Glad to hear Kay K story and behind the scenes info of his story. It really helps to picture a better visual of some of the things that transpired in the past and his mind set growing up and what his focus was as a whole. Also good to hear the break down of the 80's and 90's in his hood back then. 💯

It was cheap in the 90s, you can get high on syrup for $10 then, but these guys were all making fast cash from music or drugs, or both...nobody plans on being addicted, you're having fun..then next thing you know, you've been sipping for 5 years. You might sip just on weekends, then as your money increases, you sip as long as you can afford it..and if you always have money coming in, you're always sipping. Then the pills come in...xanax and percocets. These brothers were doing drugs like pills/syrup before they became well-known, therefore they were cheap. There wasn't a huge market for xanax, especially with black people, in the 90s..so if you had a connect on xanax, you were going to get them cheap. Plus they didn't know opiates were addictive-they were in their early 20s. Then when they did realize it was addictive on a physical level, i.e. if you don't drink everyday, you'll get physically sick--they figured they'd just sip everyday. The crack era technically didn't end until like 1995-1999, it was still easy to make lots of street money back then because the economy--the dollar was worth much more than what it is now, and things were cheaper from food to drugs. You could fill your gas tank up for like $15 in 1994. So yeah , its a combination of not having any responsibilities--all they did was rap and hustle, they didn't work real jobs. So they had more time to get high, and the drugs were cheaper back then--and they all had money--so that equals drinking whole pints on a regular. Mix in the culture from the music and the vibes of being around your friends while rapping and being somewhat local rap celebrities, and hanging out with real rap celebrities when they come to town, all these factors produce a 20-something-year-old who's likely to drink pints, pop pills, and smoke weed all day.
