For people who aren't caught up this takes place directly after mk11 aftermath where Liu Kang reset the universe but in this teaser as we can see even after all that the kombatants still choose violence over peace because it's in their blood the difference is Lui is a god now and won't take any threats lightly and in this new universe events can play out differently than the orginal so this MK1 will be entirely different than the original classic MK1

I played the game but I don’t really remember specifics, so by resetting in aftermath he undid all the events before (scorpion and sonya blade dying, sindel coming back, and raiden no longer being an elder god)?

So context for anyone who doesn’t remember: At the end of Mortal Kombat 11, Liu Kang became Fire God Liu Kang after Raiden gave him his powers to save is present self/dead self. They then take the fight to Kronika (who was controlling the ENTIRE timeline since the OG Mortal Kombat back in the 90’s) and after defeating her and using her hourglass that she used to control the timeline, Liu Kang reset the entire timeline to give everyone another chance to start over without the intervention of gods like Kronika dictating their fates, which now lands us at Mortal Kombat 1. MK1 is the 12th game but now with this new era/timeline starting before the first Mortal Kombat tournament it’s now a story that could be entirely replicated but entirely different in every way possible

Well technically we already had a reboot/ restarted the timeline in the games. Basically in a previous Mk, the world got conquered so Raiden sent a message into the past to himself to prevent this timeline from happening again so then some events after another happened and everything did changed but it was still for the worse so in MK 11 Raiden became mortal by giving his powers to Liu Kang which made him fire and thunder god liu kang. Liu Kang was like let’s just start from the beginning once again since he won’t tolerate anything else that isn’t peace.
