32:48 it's more of a preference thing for casual swimming. When my mom took me to swim lessons as a child, one of the first things they taught me when I was learning how to dive was to be exhaling through my nose upon entry so that water does not get into my nose. They had taught me again prior when just doing cannonballs in the water so I'd get into the habit of it and be ready for diving, since obviously you need both hands to be in position to do a proper dive. Your nose does not close up or anything though, if you jump into the water no holding your nose, chances are you subconsciously exhale through the nose as a reaction once your body is partially in the water mid-jump. Edit: water can go rushing in because when you're doing a cannonball into the water you are breaking the tension of water and forcing it around and through you upwards when you go downwards with your nose in an upright position. If you just hold your breath and slowly put your head under water, no water would go into your nose since it's in an upright position and forming a sort of underwater cave type of scenario where water can't travel upwards and replace that area of your nose that has a barrier of air in there.
