Ivysaur's bulb can be hit, but it cannot be grabbed. That is what can lead to some situations such as Scend whiffing the grab at 17:37. There are actually many weird places on characters' bodies that cannot be grabbed even though they can be hit (either all the time or during certain moves/animations), such as ROB up b. The interactions are fairly rare, but still come up ever so often and are very stupid.

People's opinions of what characters are strong in the meta are ever-evolving. If you look at Japanese top-player tier lists for instance, you'll see like Sheik and Shulk in top 3 above P/M, Joker, and Pika. It's all opinion. In a game with a roster of 90 characters, really anyone above bottom 20/30 can make huge waves/win majors. And as ESAM said, PT having not been "in meta" for so long probably plays to Quidd's advantage bc people rarely get top level PT practice since the other big names dropped the character. Most characters in this game are very very good and have tools to win even their "bad" matchups if played at the level Quidd played in this tournament.
@Aurora_Veill Жыл бұрын
ESAM: "Quidd kinda freaks out" Quidd: **Moves his head half an inch**
@scottcollins71983 жыл бұрын
Marss said somewhat recently that really, no matter who you are, if you want to be a top-of-the-top player in this game, you need to at least have one secondary that you can whip out at a high level to keep an opponent on their toes. The meta is just so up in the air at this point, and there are so many matchups that aren't clearly-defined/change depending on which characters are popular meta picks/how good counterplay against a character is since there are 90 characters in the game. Like you said, since PT hasn't been "in meta" for a while, this plays to Quidd's advantage since people don't have the consistent matchup/counterplay practice they had in SSBU's early days. It'll be really interesting to see how Quidd does in future majors/if more people pick up PT as a secondary again. I'm not complaining, I always thought PT had sauce.
@redfieldwong7173 жыл бұрын
This advice from a guy who only uses zero suit samus? I know he pockets snake or falcon but he has no established secondary. Kinda makes his argument a bit weak when he himself doesn't follow suit.

I can see PT being a top 3 character in this game in a few more years. The reality is that the character just takes way longer to optimize because of the whole 3-characters-in-1 thing. Especially because you need to learn 3 entirely separate playstyles for each of the Pokemon, it makes perfect sense why a character like this won't have their full potential shown until mains of the character have had atleast half a decade to properly learn and practice with each character.
