The only thing I don’t understand is. It was called in as a working fire so why not catch a plug? Layout establish water supply. And then you wouldn’t be worried about water supply. We don’t have that much. It is a working fire. 🔥 when I was a volunteer firefighter, we never passed a hydrant layout.

THEY didn't have a water supply. Other units had water supplies. They aren't the initial unit on scene and they are going to the rear of the structure which means they definitely wouldn't have a supply. They would've had whatever other incoming unit either reverse lay to them so they could have manpower (What I would do because that engine can also supply other apparatus) or wait for someone to lay in to them
