I like East St Louis, they deserve to play a national schedule but they brought this one on themselves. If they don’t start talking they might have had a chance to win the game or at least keep it competitive. IMG looked like they didn’t even want to play & IMG naturally plays to the level of their competition. But once them boys woke up it was over with. They started taking it personal. & the coach had them go straight to the Locker Room Bc East St Louis has a history of stuff happening after the game. Especially after they get wacked.

ESL simply got over-powered in this one. Not enough horses with fresh legs to match IMG. That said, Mater Dei had that same issue with IMG so the coaches utilized the team speed and ran some trick plays to pull that game out. Not many clubs have enough beef up front to match up with IMG.

What we may have missed is that they played 4 top 100 national teams with 2 of them being top 5 and went 2-2. They are essentially prep schools for kids who want to go D1 in college. It makes it easy for colleges to find them due to their unlimited travel and exposure. If you can make an IMG team, you are far likelier to get a D1 offer simply due to the fact that it is so highly competitive. I'm not saying I'm a fan of the system, but that's the answer to your question.

If you watched the full game on IMG's streaming the two IMG commentators were talking about how they only had two losses in the history of their program and they lowkey were dissing Mater Dei and going off on the state of California after they beat IMG and banned them after that game lmao. They were implying what a cowardly move Mater Dei and the state of California did by doing that and if they really wanted to prove their honor they would do a rematch to settle who is the real National Champ. The refs from Mississippi calling this game were a joke. Terrible false start penalty called on East St. Louis’ first TD. Next play was a pick 6. Every single pivotal drive the refs called ticky tack penalties that stop their momentum.
