After graduating in Medicine, I completed 1y of internal medicine and 2y of clinical oncology (3-y program). I've been practicing med oncol for almost 20 y. I also completed a master's, PhD, and have extensive research and teaching experience (graduate program coordinator with 130+ publications). I'm board-certified in Brazil in med oncol and palliative med. Do you think having only 1 y of internal medicine would be a barrier to becoming a physician in the USA or Canada without repeating residency?
