I didn't realize there was discourse around "campy" lipsyncs being judged unfairly over traditional ones, if anything I think it tends to go the other way around. We had Aja's splits, stunts, and dancing to Anaconda and that sounds like an easy win on paper, but BenDeLaCreme went campy and turned it up even higher than Aja's performance. If you can make the judges laugh they'll tend to bias you, Rita's performance just wasn't funny.

I will say, Drag in Aus/NZ is very different down here. The Queens just aren’t making the sort of money to afford the same level of drag as Queens in Europe/US. There also just isn’t a large wig styling/dress making/drag level creative industry here. The average queen only wears a bodysuit & corset to clubs. So Anita’s looks don’t seem super elevated compared to the other queens here - But compared to other Queens down here & where she’s come from, she’s doing amazing!

I can tell from the thumbnail that you two are just as annoyed by the judging results as I am! Silky's verse was a standout to me, and her reveal was so good I actually hit rewind. She deserved to win based on how much fabric she was wearing (TWO dresses worth!). I had to pause my computer and do some breathing exercises when they said she was safe. Just a gentle suggestion ... North America and South America are continents, home to many countries. The United States is a country, made up of many states, on the North American continent. I am from a military family and we learned that the respectful way to shout out our country was to call it the U.S. or the "United States". Many just refer to it as "the states" or "stateside". When we acknowledge contestants from here, we might consider saying, "and representing the United States..." as a way of not colonizing the name of two continents for our one country. (I type this thinking, "Americans, amirite?" both in reference to our nation's empire building and my representation of "woke culture".
