The joy it brings me to see Darby in her kpop/kdrama era. First off The Glory and Move to Heaven are super good, but recommendations. It's Okay not to be Okay: centers around a lot of characters that are on the spectrum, going through their individual stories, but mainly highlights are borderline psychopathic children's book creator Beauty Inside: a story about a famous actress who suffers from some supernatural curse where once a month she has to live in a different body for one week (including different genders, ethnicities, ages, etc). Mr. Sunshine: this is a bit of a long drama, but I promise the outcome is unlike any other drama out there. It's set during the Japanese imperialism period in Korea and centers around a Korean-American soldier and a Korean female sniper. It's one of the 3 Korean dramas to have made me cry in the past 10 years of watching kdramas.

Being a gay guy from Dubai, I hope people don't dismiss the huge and prominent gay community we have here, and diminish us getting the chance to have Beyonce on here as well. There are many wrongs and better to do here, but Dubai is by far one of the more liberal places in the middle east. Love you both tho!

@@hallm3lbp Hello! It's not actually illegal, it's looked down upon generally due to culture and religion but it isnt illegal. What's illegal is public display of affection regardless of your sexual orientation. You get caught, you get deported - unless you have money or status. It's one of the few amongst the 7 emirates in the uae that actually is very lenient and comparatively progressive. We have gay clubs, albeit not overtly advertised or direct in what it is - is generally understood and acknowledged as such. The reason there are cases of them being shut down though is because a lot of PDA happens in public right outside it and that's whats not allowed. Liberal in the sense wherein if you compare it to other neighbouring ME countries. People are able to wear what they want more freely, we have clubs and bars for all everywhere and it's just generally more lenient. Very much a "dont ask, dont tell" environment. We have gay influencers, gay common folk more and more being open in workspaces and public. One of the more famous designers we have locally there is an openly gay filipino (Michael Cinco) and he lives in the burj khalifa himself - and constantly gets recognition and praise. Our fashion scene/industry here is mostly comprised of queer friends too. I have been to clubs wherein I was able to wear my 6 inch heels, wherein my friends go in more "flamboyant" clothing and they're still thriving. It's still hugely discreet, ofc, and there's a sort of alertness we all have but that doesn't mean we don't exist and live normal functioning happy lives either for the most part. We have trans people too, although to my experience, they've mostly been barbers or prostitutes and as a cis gay man i can't really speak on their experience but they are very much there. It's just very very gray, like everything feels like a gray area there because there is obviously that sense of being alert and cautious but also you'll see me making out with my male friends and other guys at gay clubs almost every other time anyway you know haha. i'm sure there's alot more to say, and complexities, and not everyones experience is going to be the same. This is coming from the perspective of a gay filipino expat born and raised here. It's just generally a lot more open and not as depressing (it still kinda is, but not as) as people outside the uae perceive it as (that, or just the general lack of knowledge in terms of differences between ME countries). Ultimately it comes to finesse and how you go about living your life there, but all i can say is that i have been openly gay and even when I wasn't out/open - most people have already assumed that of me so albeit there being the obvious bullying and hate, I'm still here and thriving constantly going in and out of the place lol
