OK so I have a few things to say having watched the video: 1. I'm surprised you didn't mention Stars and Swashbucklers 2. I like how in the 1st book you recommend, the curse is actually very beneficial despite being a curse kinda like Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door 3. You should read Little Fires Everywhere because it's a good book and it gives you an excuse to watch the miniseries based on the book because you need to see the amazing character of Izzy and the amazing actress who plays Izzy in the series. Great video Lina, can't wait for the next one

@@lina.lecompte yes please watch the show. You'll love Izzy (I hope). Also that Paper Mario thing I mentioned is a game that's getting a remake which is very close to releasing (May 23rd to be exact) so if anything now is the best time to try it (assuming you have a Nintendo Switch)

Thanks for the recommendations. Fully agree with Six of Crows, Bardugo's writing is awesome in it. I'm glad you enjoyed The Midnight Library, though I absolutely hated it - thought it handled the mental health aspect really badly, as someone who's struggled with depression. The reads I'd recommend: A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon - epic fantasy with dragons and a secret magical order about saving the world. The Bone Ships Trilogy by RJ Barker - pirate fantasy, need I say more? The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. Le Guin - a short sci-fi book on the power of dreams and choice (I think everyone should read Le Guin!). Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer - part memoir and part non-fiction about indigenous knowledge and/about ecology. Fayne by Ann-Marie MacDonald - historical fiction about gender/sexuality and growing up.

Yessss Leigh Bardugo is amazing! I can totally see how you would've hated The Midnight Library. I can agree with how it handled mental health/depression.... it made it seem a lot more trivial than it actually is. I think as I was reading it, I chose to focus more on the positive aspects and the little lessons sprinkled across the way. Like I said, it took me a while to get into it, and I didn't really love the way Nora was handled as a character! But I loved the concept of it and it made me think about my own life choices and potential alternate realities which was a cool experience! Thanks so much for all of your recs! I'll have to add them to my list!

@@lina.lecompte Gladwell is the king of oversimplifying complex topics and making arguments that sound convincing if you don't think about them too hard, or if you don't engage with any other literature on the topic. He's very engaging and accessible, but this disguises the reality that his books are collections of carefully cherry-picked anecdotes with a sketchy crayon-drawn line between them to build an argument. Atomic Habits is like 99% of other self-help/productivity books. It's a lot of pages to basically make 3 points: (1) If you want to do something, you have to choose to do it (2) Split everything up into small manageable tasks/habits (3) No matter what, do those small manageable chunks. The rest is just filler and entertainment.
