I have a large, gold coloured brooch that I sometimes pin to the centre of my waistband to create the look of a belt buckle. With a layering piece worn open, it looks as if I am wearing a wearing a belt that matches my skirt or trousers. I think it would also work peeping out from under a front tuck. I've had the brooch for years and could never find a way of wearing it until now.

Omg that is an amazing idea. Why have I never thought of that. Can I please use your idea in the future? I must try that, thank you x

@ImjustmeMarleen I'd be very happy for you to try my idea, and to share it with your viewers if you would like to. The great thing about a brooch is that, unlike a belt, it always fits!

Marlene - this was one of your best videos! I not only liked you showing us the before and after of each outfit but how you walked us through each step of how and why it could be changed to look better! I learned so much and would love to see more of your tips! I haven’t jumped on the wide leg bandwagon yet and need to wear flat shoes so I usually wear straight leg pants. If you have any tips for styling straight leg (not leggings) pants, I’d love to see them. You are very relatable and down to earth which makes you so good at what you do! I’ll keep watching!
@ImjustmeMarleen2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much. The straight leg can be a little hard for us apples but it much depends on the fit and level of tummy you are ok with showing. But honestly, all the tips and tricks stands with straight legs as well, it’s simply just of you prefer that silhouette xx

Just came across your channel Marleen and I have to say I'm so glad you are using your existing clothes to demonstrate your ideas! I'm so tired of so called styling videos which are actually more like a 20 minute advert! I've always been more of a pear than an apple but menopause is adding weight to my mid-section nowadays, so your tips are very useful!

@@ImjustmeMarleen although I understand that to a degree, I feel it's much more important to understand the why behind a styling technique so you can recreate them with different clothes. Otherwise you end up with a closet full of items you only style one way! Since I discovered thrifting (I'm in Belgium and Vinted is my go to, especially for plus sizes) I'm much more adventurous with my purchase and knowing how to play with different clothes to suit me better has made such a difference to my style and my confidence!

Marleen this was a great video. It’s amazing how the smallest details can make such a difference in your shape! Question… Do pleated pants help hide a tummy or draw more attention to it?
@ImjustmeMarleenАй бұрын
It very much depends. You can get some pleats that sits amazing but if I was to give a general rule of thumb, avoid them as an apple shape. A flat fronted pair gives a smoother silhouette. But again.. if they sit right, they can help disguise the tummy x

I love when you do The styling videos! What would you think about tucking a small colorful silk scarf into the open neckline of your first outfit? That would give you a little more warmth as well if you didn't want to leave open skin
@ImjustmeMarleen2 ай бұрын
It’s absolutely an option. For me personally, because my neck is short, scarves often just make my neck “shorter” so it’s not something I wear (unless it’s for the winter weather) (I’m the same way with necklaces) but it’s a good idea for sure. Many thanks x

Sounds like you are already going the right way. Always go for a fit in the shoulders even if it means the coat/jacket can’t close. Unless it’s a snow/really cold weather then ofcourse it needs closing but otherwise use a warm scarf to hang I. The closure x Ps. I love your look, on you. Is "corporate" the only style that looks good on apples? I want more artistic/boho.
@ImjustmeMarleen2 ай бұрын
No absolutely not. Many different styles will suit us but admitted the the “corporate” (in my personally opinion) is the best simply as it’s the least fussy one and apples don’t do well with fuss. Maybe we should explore some other styles.. any suggestions?

@@ImjustmeMarleenthx. I'm more active and artistic. I don't always sit in a chair (example). I left the corporate world and happy to ditch the style, but where do I go? I end up in leggings and skinnies because they are flexible, casual. I wish I could wear Free People.
