About Captain of Industry:
Captain of Industry is a colony and factory simulation game. Your journey will start with a small crew of survivors on an abandoned island. If you do things right, you'll work your way up towards a self-sufficient colony and will play an important part in the region's industry. But first, in order to survive, you will need to mine raw materials, grow food, build factories, manufacture products, construct vehicles, research new technologies, explore your surroundings, and trade with other islands. If you are successful, you can even start a space program and build rockets!

Groundwater does replenish slowly over time, if you overload a groundwater deposit it will eventually run out, but if you don't have too many wells pumping it can be sustainable. (Hint: Use ground water deposits that are far away from your build to pump water to storage tanks where you need extra water.)

I put 5 pumps on each source with a balancer between them and run a main pipe down the middle of the map.. hasn't run out yet..

Use balancers for priorities: you want to suck dry your remote water supplies first.

Priorities of power production are of utmost importance: When you give your main petrol (later nuclear) the highest priority, your reserve diesels will only kick in when you have a jump in demand. Steam-based power generation has a bit of inertia between a demand surge and turbines gearing up (auto-balance!). This is like a real grid: You want to use your base load energy source as much as possible. This is especially important when you have nuclear later, as nuclear will generate heat, even if there is no demand for the steam further downstream.

In case you didn't know you can dig up the ground and lay pipes and recover it with the dirt you took out. Essentialy building pipes underground. Also you can mirror building with F instead of rotating them 180.

It might be possible to feed the steam outputs of the steel cooling mashines into a steam generator as well instead of dumping it into the atmosphere via smokestacks.
@timothyewing4009
@timothyewing4009 2 жыл бұрын
The only output from the steel line is exhaust. He called it steam but it’s not. He could reclaim the steam from his turbines using a cooling tower to reduce his water consumption tho.

Just an FYI about sausage which you'll probably run into in a later episode: the creation of the stuff that makes sausage also creates a ton of meat. There's no way to get rid of the meat other than to wait for your population to eat it which causes the meat to back up and halt production of your sausage. Don't expect to satiate your population's desire to eat sausage.
@ElfikTheNight
@ElfikTheNight 2 жыл бұрын
This was actually fixed in today's patch, you can now transform meat to meat trimmings which sausages are made from :)

This game looked promising until it made the mistake of becoming another ratio simulator.
@YiotisTheGnome
@YiotisTheGnome 2 жыл бұрын
I dont know what you were expecting. All these automated production games are literally a ratio simulator. Too small a ratio and production slows to a crawl and everything shuts down. To big a ratio and production gets clogged up and then everything shuts down. The fun in it is figuring it out and building the spaghetti necessary to run it. Or watching someone else do it, that's also fun. And then you unlock further stuff and you need to rebalance your ratios again! So the fun begins again!

Kibz, the power input/output of the flywheels is one-way. You need to put them in between the turbines and the generators, otherwise it's just wasting power and fuel to run them. =^x^=
