This is pretty much how it should be from day one. If the loading was hidden like this like in most space games, I think the community would be happier, or so I believe. Gonna try this mod and hope for the next step of it.

Possibly a dumb question but the simplest and obvious solution to me is to just fade to white. The animation clearly washes the console and your entire field of vision in pure white light and you come out of jumps in pure white so… why not just have a fancy white screen with random grav drive effects? Am I missing something?

Not a dumb question at all, I agree. I'm not a fan of the wormhole animation tried in the mod, but I agree that the white screen, maybe a bit similar to games/movies with the starts passing by or something like that would be the ideal option since it's not only familiar and can be looped a bit like a gif during the loading, this could give the sensation of traveling, which is the one thing we miss. Adding to that, different animations for in system travel, landing and take off could also be added. Just like the pre generated biomes, each could have a specific landing/takeoff animation, this way it should be easier to implement. But here's where I'm not sure if would be possible. The thing is, since I'm no modder nor have any experience in modding, I'm not sure if the game just see the loading as a loading or if it can take into consideration where the loading is coming from and where it is going. I mean, if every loading is just a loading, then would be possible to add different animations for each variation of loading? Maybe it is possible since this mod exists and it works in ship only as far as I know, but I'm not sure if it could be implemented the way I hope it get's implemented, which is as I've described. This sure have potential though.

@MisterGuyMan What you're missing is that this is a good idea. That's why it didn't get added. There's many ways to hide loading screens they just didn't make the effort for whatever reason. Hope they change it.

Coming from space sims like elite dangerous. Where it’s the feeling of travel that brings scale to space. And the fact you actually travel system to system, planets to planets, Orbit round that planet and fly down to your destination without your pov leaving your cockpit. That immersion is what I crave from games like this. I play fallout and Skyrim without ever using fast travel for this reason. Starfield didn’t capture me based of the fact you’re forced to use a fast travel system every time you go somewhere new.

Playing devil's advocate here, there's a lot in those games you CAN'T do that you can in Starfield. I think you and most other people had false expectations. You were expecting Bethesda's version of No Man's Sky or Star Citizen, when in reality it's more like Bethesda's version of Mass Effect. When you look at it from that perspective, Starfield is great.

The loading screens are short and the wallpapers are pretty cool so I don't mind them. Although I tend to fly first person pov when I'm drinking, eating, or petting me dog since it gives a bit more immersion.

This some thing division does perfectly. Hiding load screens by making you walk slowly into the base. You are still in control of your character but you can’t draw your weapons anymore. Etc.

The second and third ones are best. A wormhole appearance makes sense. However, I do prefer the third one slightly. It's more vanilla friendly. Also, it's easy to interpret as the ship speeding up toward the speed of light. Then when you eventually surpass the speed of light, things go black momentarily because you are now faster than light (regardless of the actual physics of this phenomenon)...

I don't mind the loading screens. I played "a lot" of Sims 4 and that game has more loading screens than this. So, this makes me wonder. Can this same logic be appealed to planets and its moons? Here is an example say you want to land on New Atlantis well it would play a animation of the clouds before landing. I haven't tried it but I heard Astrogate (I think it's called) does something similar.

Imagine if one day the loading screen becomes get out of your cockpit and you can walk around your ship, maybe if it finishes loading while you're outside of the cockpit (which let's be real it most certainly would it doesn't take that long) it would wait until you get in your cockpit to pull up what it loaded I guess. That way you could roleplay the trip taking awhile and your character takes a nap while waiting.

I tested the seamless mod for effects, it works nice and seamless in a decent system. I play on a 32:9 ultrawide aspect ratio which is not supported though so hopefully one day.

I’m used to loading screens but I couldn’t help but notice that even back in the first Ratchet and Clank they showed your ship flying through space when you traveled rather than… well nothing. Glad someone with the means and knowledge to implement this thought the same. Thanks for the video and showing each animation. The last one reminds me of a more retro sci fi very cool.

lol The difference between the massive amount of data loading from back then, compared to now, in terms of loading time, is H U G E. Our machines today are very fast, but the data is a billion times larger to process, so it's a trade off. That's why games like "The Outer Worlds" and "NM Sky" can pull it off. The graphics are very cartoon-like and mild in comparison to SF.

I think Bethesda is brilliant for welcoming mods so we can make the game the way we want. Also, Skyrim/Fallout 3 had a bunch of loading screens too and nobody complained. Starfield is a great game imo

I don't know if it's a mod, but I often see others with custom suit or weapon colors. Are skins part of the stock game that unlock at some point, or is this mods that people are using. For instance, what's with the red suit your character was wearing at the end of the video. I've seen enough crimson fleet suits to think that's not one of them.

My biggest issue about loading screens is not their presence but their abundance. I've gotta go through a loading screen between EVERYTHING, to get into my ship, loading screen, to travel anywhere, loading screen, if I've want to land, loading screen, if I've gotta dock at a ship, loading screen. It just makes the exploration feel like a chore

This is a step in the right direction. Thanks for showing it :) I really want a mod that does just this but with entering and leaving the atmosphere of a planet. I also really want an animation when firing up the systems in your ship just like when you fire up your grav drive. Never understood why Bethesda didn't do that. I wanna see my character press all those buttons! If someone could even make a mod where WE get to press all those buttons ourselves...man...that would be AWESOME. Really make it seem like I am controlling everything in my ship. What are some essential immersion mods you guys are hoping for / working on?

I don't mind load screens either, but the more they can hide them, the better it is for immersion.. For example, going down to the surface of a planet, it could force a cockpit view and then basically have partial movement towards the planet, then it engages some kind of shield that makes it a bit more difficult to see that you're not really travelling, and to avoid having to load up the entire surface, but it's really just a simulation of you breaking through the atmosphere (if there is one) If 3rd person view from the ship, you could hide it with clouds obscuring stuff kind of how it looks for a while when going to the surface in Star Wars Outlaws.. Or use a shield here too that is to protect the ship, that blurs the vision.. Again so you don't have to load up billions of details on the surface, yet being sensible and believable.. And do this sequence pretty much all the way up until changing to the cinematic landing sequence.. I think Bethesda could easily have done this if they thought about it, and think more the black screens is a throwback to how they've done previous games, and and use them to show game tips and art - which people stop looking at after a while anyway.

Honestly, I think loading screen while grav jumping is fine, it also shows your screenshot and that's not something I want to miss so this is mod is most likely a pass to me (the 'gravity wall' mode also doesn't look that seamless)

I honestly never paid that much attention to the loading screen before now but you can bet i will after seeing this. I was always just disappointed that Starfield didnt feel like it had actual space travel like a game such as the X series. Just a whole bunch of stupid fast travel. Whats the points of taking Cargo delivery missions for example when you take the job close the terminal hit fast travel and basically the mission is over in 5 seconds. If i wasnt busy working on fixing garbage starfield skills and adding new ones for my mods id probably work on a mod to make travel feel more realistic. Hopefully someone else will tackle that. This is a step in the right direction though.

The fact that most space travel happens via UI and not free flying around like NMS used to bother me at first. Now not at all, actually i prefer it now. Starfield is a story focused RPG, with a numbered but very detailed locations, each with their own story and quests. NMS is all procedurally generated crap, theres nothing interesting to explore there.

This mod was originally made long before the creation kit even came out , this is just an updated version . There is also a mod that makes it so that you have the Star wars Lightspeed animations . And another mod that adds specific music to go with it .

I don't care about load screens if they are short. You know how Baldur's Gate 3 has your "camp" for downtime? I think it would have been great if travel between star systems in SF took days and your ship basically became your camp while doing this and you could interact with your "crew" more during this time. It would certainly make more sense for passengers needing extra accommodations instead of the flight being shorter than most airline travel in real life. It would certainly impact the experience if you created one of those "smallest ship" builds :)

They totally should have used a Return of the Jedi or Doctor Who type travel scene in the original game. You should come out of light speed approaching the planet very quickly. It baffles me why Bethesda didn’t go this route. Additionally, they should have made it seem much more like you are in a space suit; think Metroid Prime. I mean snow, rain should fall on your visor, visor fogs, you can see your reflection etc. the menus should be some kind of heads up display in your helmet.

The Grav Jump lore is actually supposed to be pretty instant as you are essentially teleporting from one one in space to another. You aren't actually moving at a very fast speed of light like in other Sci-Fi universes
