Thanks a lot for this and all your videos and the way how you explain. I learned Dolby Atmos on a fast track, which was completely new for me and it works fine. New level to produce my music and for sound design ideas.

Another very informative video :-) On another note i finally figured out how to get Dolby Atmos content from apple music to play through my 7.1.4 studio system as i was only getting 5.1 :-) There is a work around which is pretty easy to do :-)
@michaelgwagner Жыл бұрын
Great! How did you do that?

@@michaelgwagner Ok so after being on with apple for 2 hours and had only the same info i had and gotten know where ... I found an article on production expert by David Stagl which kinda offered a couple of solutions regarding the problem The 1st being that your interface must be no more than 16 in 16 out... I kinda new this as i had heard it a few times on various forums :-) But apple could not confirm this :-( So in davids article it ref two pieces of software that might be able to help fool the mac into thinking you only had 16 in and 16 outs... Loopback but that didn't work as it only allowed stereo in and no multi channel :-( I chatted with the Developers and they said that its something they were looking into :-) So that left another bit of software called Blackhole :-) Now At 1st though this was not working as you have to switch the output from blackhole to my Audio interface and this only gave me 5.1 again :-( But by a bit of luck i noticed that a couple of time i actually got 7.1.4 from apple music but every time i picked another track it went back to 5.1 :-( Anyway So hear is the trick if you have an Atmos play list and you start the track playing with in and out set to blackhole after a few seconds you change the output to your audio interface all the tracks will play 7.1.4 :-) Unless you stop or skip the track then you have to repeat the few seconds on Blackhole and then back to the Interface.. I know its not perfect but it does work :-) Two things i have deduced from this are 1 Apple music has some kind of system that must look at the actual config of the interface and 2.At this moment in time apple music works best with 16 in 16 out...When i was talking to apple tech i did ask that this be pushed up the line to the developers so that they can right something in that allows interface ins and outs to be turned of or better still they allow any interface to play back content. :-) You should make a video about this as its asked a lot but no real answer until now :-)

Interesting. Loopback does allow multichannel though. Any idea why that didn’t work in your case?
@QFXmusic Жыл бұрын
@@michaelgwagner Well the developers told me that it doesn't work multichannel with apple music ? So it must be something to do with the way it sees apple Music. They did say they were looking into it but other than that i do not know.. Maybe someone who is a bit more tech minded like yourself could figure it out lol But making music is my thing lol

There is some reliance on eithe MacOS or iOS, correct. Not sure why nobody ever ported NXOsc into the Windows world. It should not be complicated to do.

Really enjoying your videos on Atmos in Cubase 12. Thanks so much. Q: I’ve used your AWS method to use as a reference, but how do you export a Dolby atmos wav that can be uploaded to a digital distributor like Distrokid for release (is it just the wav used to upload to AWS?)? And is there a way to export it so that it’s not such a huge file (3Gb) for uploading? Thanks again for your informative videos. 🙏🏽
@michaelgwagner Жыл бұрын
Thanks. I believe Distrokid asks for the ADM BWF masterfile. And yes, that can be large.
@Nathankaye Жыл бұрын
@@michaelgwagner thanks so much for that super fast reply. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is the file that Cubase exports the ADM BWF file required?
@michaelgwagner Жыл бұрын
Yes, the one that you export via the ADM authoring menu.

Hey Michael, thanks for your Content, i just stumbled over your Channel and fell in love immediately. I will definitely recommend it very often! Great praise, how you prepare, think through and explain the things. I notice that you really make an effort! Thanks for that. Well, enough sliming :D ...I have several Questions though: - Is it correct, that everything, that the Ambisonics-Renderer now recieves, is channel-discreet and no longer object-based? - If yes, is there a way to implement headtracking into the binaural Atmos-Renderer directly, so it´s possible to take 100% of the object-based-advantages? - else: is the problem so minor that it doesn't matter at all in practice? Take care!
@michaelgwagner Жыл бұрын
Welcome and thanks for the nice words! You are correct. The object based audio is rendered into Ambisonics first which is then rendered inyo stereo/binaural, so you are technically not monitoring the object based audio correctly. Logic has the headtracking with AirPods built into the Atmos renderer but that is currently the only option you have to go from object based audio directly into head tracked binaural without an intermediate rendering step.
