The reason that the government thinks that immigration is good for the economy is trade being generated. The problem with this is that the government is borrowing money to give to the migrants who will spend it and generate a higher GDP. Now if the government did not borrow the money and give it to the migrants then there would be a very net negative to the GDP, however the debt of the nation would be less, and there would be lower inflation. It is amazing that the GDP can be influenced by the government borrowing money and then giving it to people to spend. Why not give the English people the money, they will spend it too and the GDP will increase.
