I am from Eswatini and I moved to the UK many years ago so I find your vlog interesting. It’s amazing how different the more advanced countries are to our countries in Africa. Living costs are so high because they make you pay tax everywhere! If I lived in Eswatini and worked in the UK I would be a millionaire. When you talk about the Stamp Duty for buying cars it reminds me of the Stamp Duty we pay for buying houses in the UK - total rip off!. I would love to visit Australia one day.

Been here 30 years now. Best move I made and now retired. Brisbane very popular with South Africans and property while expensive is much cheaper than other cities. Some essential tips. DO NOT waste money on private schools. Seen so many people waste literally hundreds of thousands on this. Government schools are good. Both my kids passed through government schools and are now at university doing very well. Self motivation is more important. Shop around for everything and negotiate. Second hand stuff is widely available on the web. Do your own labouring like gardening, washing the dog, painting, gardening etc. I watch church mouse poor South Africans around us employing people to cut their grass and wash the pooch. Roll up your sleeves people this is not SA. If you are still young, pile money into superannuation. 15% tax going in and zero tax going out if over 60 like me. We now live comfortably off the superannuation which is making around 8% pa. Go for it but be clever.

I raised my Australian born daughter here for 22 years WITHOUT a car. Too expensive for me. She's doing well at uni studying AI. She also went to gov school. Thank God. A lot of suffering but on my budget I'd have just died in SA. Been here 30 years too. From the lovely old JHB. I still miss it. Haven't settled, still.. but it's good to be safe.

Canberra and Sydney are the most expensive places to buy and rent a house, simply because Sydney has a huge population and Canberra is full of well paid government workers. Basically everyone in Canberra is rich. Melbourne's expensive too but not as bad. That said, we get paid a fortune for work here, much more than in the UK or other countries so don't get too scared off by the prices. Anyway, South Africans are very welcome here. They have a good reputation as hard workers and share a similar culture.

Don't go to the southern cities, there's more to Australia than Melbourne Sydney Adelaide Perth Brisbane. The Gold Coast is a great option and better then the rest for an active family. But if money is a problem then there's Northern Queensland like Townsville Cairns Toowoomba Rockhampton Mackay these cities don't any of the issues of the Southern cities and are cheaper living standards and the climate is more like South Africa. The Northern Territory is cheap too but very sparse and hard to get things you take for granted in a Capital city.
@davidhobbs56795 жыл бұрын
Gotta say that the weather isn't too similar, mostly due to altitude and latitude. NQ coast is similar to Tanzania. Not SA. But it is certainly cheaper with most of the nice things about having a city,with quick access to the wilderness and Rainforest plus the GBR.

My daughter has two children in Day Care and it is very expensive ($300 total per day) however despite earning just under $200k and husband is well paid (just over $300k I think) they do get subsidies. I believe the cost of the second child will be fully covered after July. In NSW and VIC they have announced the gradual introduction of a new Pre-K year - this will mean that by 2030 all children from 4 on will have access to free day care. The introduction commences next year in selected areas. Also since the move towards remote working due to Covid there has been a migration to regional areas of NSW and housing prices have grown rapidly as a result but still well below Sydney.

Hi I'm from Kuils River, Cape Town Got a BNurs Hons degree. Planning on immigrating to South Australia (Adelaide). My question is, can a Registered Professional Nurse make a good living in Australia? Looking at Buying a house, cars, etc
@jameswilliam27085 жыл бұрын
Hi Rudene. A nurse earns approximately $65,000AU and above per year. There is a good supply of work, so employment is easy. Your lifestyle here will depend on a few things. Do you have an income producing partner? How many dependants? Generally speaking, a $65000 salary will allow you to borrow around $200,000 for the purchase of property. In Sydney, there are VERY few properties at that level, but there are thousands of rural areas that require nurses where housing is very cheap. In the town of Cobar NSW (population 4000), there is currently a job advertised for RN's. A large 4 bedroom house will cost $1800pm to rent and the job pays $7000pm. This place is in the middle of nowhere, but it's a start. I’m not sure what’s available in Adelaide, but circumstances will be similar. Hope it helps!
