Immigration: Are the Irish Government Tone-Deaf? | The Millennial Cynic

Today I take a look at recent events in Ireland surrounding immigration: in particular the government approach to the record numbers of asylum seekers entering Ireland. Tenders have been issued to buy or lease properties to house asylum seekers in an effort to stop the so-called "tent cities" that have been popping up in Dublin. Is it the answer? Or are Simon Harris, Helen McEntee and Roderic O'Gorman just not listening to the people?

There is no EU obligations to take in non-EU migrants and no international obligation to take in permanently migrants claiming to be refugees deserving asylum. Irelands fertility rate was 4.01 the year it joined the EU and the population was 97% Irish. Today the fertility rate is 1.57 and the population is 73% Irish. The trajectory has followed the main EU countries although it lags behind by a couple of years. Ever since we started following EU social and economic policies we have become more European and been victims of all the same ills. In a 2001 UN migration replacement report it was stated that Germany would need nearly 1.5 million migrants per year to survive as a country. They failed to meet those targets for a few years so it was no surprise that they took in over 2.5 million in one fell swoop to get their target back on track. In the view of Europe we are not seen as Irish but instead are "European Economic Units". Our sole purpose is to contribute to economic growth and productivity. When we stop doing that, ie when we become old or sick we are replaced by another economic unit. It doesn't matter where that economic unit comes from because as far as the EU is is concerned the are as disposable and interchangeable as a battery. All the better if that new economic unit is a young adult without kids because in this European Economic dystopia kids are viewed as a drain on productivity, growth and resources. It is much easier to skip the burden of raising children and import young adults. Europe has funded and backed NGO's to ferry these new economic units across the Mediterranean and from other parts of the world. Be under no illusion. This is a EU project on behalf of economic interests and Ireland has no say whatsoever while it remains in the EU.

If your roof is leaking, you don't keep mopping the floor and wondering what to do. You fix the leak then get rid of the buckets of water. As someone who came to Ireland from the UK decades ago, because I married an Irish woman and I loved Irish culture, it is sad to see it being destroyed. My parents were economic migrants to the UK in the 1960s. You integrated, obeyed the law and lived in the native culture. That seems not to be the case now. Most of those claiming asylum are from safe countries (as per CSO numbers). If we turn away those arriving in ports with no docs (as they have destroyed them on the journey over the Irish Sea, that would help. An efficient system and forced deportation would also help - then get rid of the economic incentives to pick Ireland. I doubt this will happen, and maybe this situation is the intended outcome for those really in control. I do miss old Catholic Ireland though.

@@bettymanning9807 Stop voting for the main political parties who are responsible for allowing the E.U to impose their policy of replacement onto the Irish people. Start voting for Independent and Nationalists Parties. I do not include Sinn Fein as a nationalist party. They are Socialists/ Marxists and are in favour of open boarders. Ireland must reposition itself politically further to the right of the spectrum to counter balance the radical progressive left who have dominated Irish Politics for decades.

Ireland is an opt-out country under the Amsterdam treaty, so we control our own immigration policy. Any failure in this area is ours, and ours alone. We have the tools to manage the situation, but they're not being used. The question is, do we want to do what we could do? It wouldn't be nice.

Not only that, we were fleeing an actual famine and genocide, akin to what Palestine is facing, but far worse, because at least they are getting food. We didnt. We also did not go everywhere, I dont want to seem like I am patronizing you, but we mostly went to the States, then Britain and Canada, we were sent to Australia and NZ as prisoners. Of course the establishment do not care about this history at all, however to the common voter, this is an important history to remember, that to not once in anyway shape or form to feel guilt. I mean even legal immigrants who have been here years, respect this history. Im more concerned about services, water shortages, legal drug shortages, blockages in sewers... the country is not built for 5 million, instead of putting money into housing illegals, they should as you said create a soft border on our side that is further from the border itself to process them as they come in, 99% are most definitely economic migrants, and of at least 70% of the 14k who have come in, have done horrendous things, they are entirely different cultures, what is expected to happen? This an EU legislation, and we must break the agreements, to hell with it, what will they do? Stop all trade? Annihilate our whole country with sanctions because we are trying to stop a wave of never ending migration? Go ahead. Something will snap and break especially when services are hurt and the government keep putting unvetted males into small towns.. I mean whats the point of having customs at an airport anymore? Sure just let the whole world in and really make us join the rest of the 3rd world with no running services, that wont cause a civil war. No, not at all.

I don’t care about Palestine, I know that according to the UN enough food aid has been pushed into Gaza to feed everyone for 6 months so famine? Nah, if there’s not enough food then Hamas is stealing it. And there’s no genocide, it’s a war and again the UN just HALVED their estimates on women and children casualties. You don’t see RTE reporting on that. BUT, yes we faced famine and possible genocide but we didn’t do anything. Gazans tho attacked Israel, they don’t get to walk away from that.

A major issue is a whole network advertising for jobs in Britain, Ireland and elsewhere. Example is "Clara Immigration", "Job Abrodia" as well as many more. "Clara Immigration" (in accordance to her own video) lives in Northern Ireland, while she keeps advertising Free Visa Jobs in Britain, in Ireland, Sweden, Luxembourg and the list goes on, while filling her own pockets with money and scamming those, who are interested and most likely are very vulnerable. I do not understand why these adverts and channels are not taken down, since they certainly are part of the problems countries are facing! In other words, Britain keeps dumping immigrants they don't want into other countries. Of course "Clara Immigration" will not provide "services" for free and out of the goodness of her heart. Those interested will be paying vast sums of money, though if they were contacting Embassies of these countries first, they certainly would be told what exactly to do and get this information for free. In other words, scammers are in action and nobody is doing anything about it.

I emigrated to Canada in 1993 and two years ago I retired to Ireland, land of my birth. My application process for Canada took almost two years and was expensive. I had to prove that I had enough points for my trade, did not have a criminal record, had to have an offer of work from a Canadian employer, who in turn had to prove that they could not find a suitable Canadian to fill the position, and finally, complete a full medical with an HIV test. If I had failed, I certainly would not have just jumped onto a plane bound for Toronto to claim asylum. It's time to get tough on the rampant abuse of the asylum system.

Those who go into politics who do want to make a change can't go up against the already established toxic culture of the Irish government. For decades they have done what suits them or their overlords 😂 as another commentor rightly pointed out. It's only when we really fight back like the last referendum they start to listen and even then nothing changes they do the bare minimum. Sure isn't everything currently in crisis? Our health services, housing,, childcare, farming, immigration to name a few. Not one thing works properly for us only for the wealthy and those tax dodgers. Who exploit our low tax haven and then they take the money straight back out of the country after the government get their cut. Disgraceful they need to go.
