The total is FAR higher. Don't forget that WE pay for their Legal Aid lawyers for several years as they 'need' legal representation for all of their appeals. Those lawyers charge per hour and they are very expensive. Even after their claim is rejected, they claim they have 'significant ties' to Canada and are then allowed to stay. At this point they go on welfare. But since welfare isn't much, they fake DV to get moved to the top of the list for subsidized housing so they permanently pay $200 per month for a 3 bedroom townhouse. While working on the side for cash. Set for life!

Yes but we need immigrants to come and have babies because we have a labour shortage. Canadians are the highests, or among the highest per capita energy consumers with the biggest carbon footprints. If we replace Canadian babies with Indian babies our per capita energy usage and carbon footprint will fall. Indian are more forward thinking, living multiple families and 15+ people per household, drive more electric cars (like Teslas), and are more likely to become landlords and allow large amounts of people to rent in a single house. I live in arguably the most expensive city in Canada (Vancouver). One benefit of being so expensive is that migrants can't afford to live here even with all the handouts and free stuff. I still see a lot of immigrants coming in though. Piling families into townhomes and duplexes beyond capacity. I can only imagine how bad it is in the cheaper cities. The level of taxation and the dollar crashing has forced anyone with means to head south or other places. Our GDP is in the toilet because investment outflows has never been higher. Talent and professionals are leaving Canada in droves. The govt solution is to bring in as many people from less developed nations to fill that gap. They still need to eat/sleep and spend. Once an immigrant is landed, it's nearly impossible for them to leave due to the cost of living even they have to maintain. Welcome to the 3rd world nightmare.

Canada's immigration system is broken. Our family friend, a couple of doctors went to Canada a decade ago hoping they would practice their career over there. They went to Alberta and the guy worked as a caregiver and the wife in a daycare. When they got their PR, they went to Nunavut hoping they would eventually transition to medicine, but despite their efforts, they couldn't. So, today, they are now in the Philippines and built their own clinic with lab services, together with their fellow Doctor friends and are doing well. They are still PR in Canada and only visits Canada every 6+ months avoiding losing the PR status. Canada and Philippines have tax treaty as well, so they manage to leasen their taxes. If they could only practice what they've devoted their lives to in Canada, they might stay for good but they said, it's *IMPOSSIBLE*
