As a singer that grew up doing musical theatre I’m quite picky about musicals & I prefer old classical styles more like Sondheim. Although some of these songs are overly cheesy I’ve got to say the chorus of this song when everyone is singing together just hits the spot cause it reminds me of those traditional vibes and it’s just so god damn catchy they all sang so well together as a unit no one was pitchy or off key which is very hard when a bunch of people are singing at same time when they have such different styles/tones/qualities to their voices !! I also really love Jane & Casey’s duet it’s not the best written but the music of that one is soooo damn catchy I’ve listened multiple times & once again the chorus is the best bit. Doom patrol has a knack for catchy chorus writing it seems 😂 the end of this song in particular reminds me of Bob Burgers which I love👌🏼 I wish the songs had been tailored a bit more to the cast actual voices though like how the Buffy musical was; every song in that for example was tailored so perfectly to everyone’s strengths and styles/vocal abilities (key and tones wise) which made every song sound phenomenal to the point where I wanted most of the cast to become actual singers not just actors. The cast of Doom Patrol has some phenomenal singers like Diane Guerrero, Abi Monterey, Michelle Gomez & Matt Bomer being my faves! the fact Michelle doesn’t class herself as a singer is baffling to me because her range is so wide & her tone style changes showcase she’d be great for opera, traditional classical based musical theatre & rock music she is clearly a Mezzo-Soprano which is also my own range for musical theatre even though I’m a comfy Contralto/Alto for jazz/blues/traditional pop. I would of loved to hear her do a solo broadway ballad style type of song or even a jazz/lounge piece 🖤 if you want to hear her sing a full solo piece actually the song “The Dutchess I must be” from Loud House movie is a perfect example of how amazing her voice is!! That has become one of my fave villain musical songs ever because she just goes all out it was performed perfectly she showcases so much variety and range it’s genuinely breathtaking in many places in vocal quality & the music was clearly produced and tailored perfectly to suit her strengths and it shows it’s a chefs kiss performance 👌🏼 I will say I loved how well April did I was always sad when I didn’t hear her sing in the musical show Drop Dead Diva she should have because she did great! Brendan was a laugh in the best way and Joivan had some nice tones too Overall I love this episode & im so glad everyone was on board to do it I wish every show I watched on TV had a one off Musical Episode I love seeing people showcase their hidden talents 💪🏼🖤
