It’s a shame that sig didn’t just go ahead and make a 2011. They already widened the grip so a double stack mag would make sense.

I watched a youtuber explain how in WWII the soldiers went through inspections, and when the general was done with a soldier, they were expected to use the slide release on their pistol and default back in line. "If your gun breaks from using the slide release, it isn't a real 1911."
@PrecisionDan
@PrecisionDan 10 ай бұрын
@ShadowCatGambit I've been told that if you rack the slide instead of using the release, it'll be better to prevent malfunctions because of the half millimeter of travel will help chamber the round.

@@ShadowCatGambitmy grandfather who was a WW2 and Korean War vet with 2 purple heart's and part of the 187 Rakkasans told me the 1911 was the most reliable magazine fed sidearm he had ever seen. He rarely seen them malfunction and when it did happen it was usually because of a damaged magazine. He even watched them feed rounds with damaged casings & deformed slugs with ease. Unrelated but interesting none the less is that He also said some of their browning model 1917a1 would have cracked water cooling systems on them so they had to make a choice of using their drinking water to try and keep the guns cooled down, or use their beer they had stashed to cool them down, the last choice (the only real choice) was to piss in them to keep them cooled down and that's what they did! They may have had to smell burnt piss but atleast they had their beer & drinking water lol. ✌️

Interesting. How hard is it to find ammo? I've given up on the caliber. It is too pricey and VERY difficult to find in my state. Haven't seen any of that caliber on the shelves in a YEAR. I seriously think you should buy a conversion kit soon. I gave up and converted my Glock barrel to .40 S&W.
@SuperD00D
@SuperD00D 7 ай бұрын
.40 has more potential in 135 or 155 grain projectiles than .357 sig does. Underwood maxed .40 out of a Glock 22 at 675 foot pounds and .357 sig at 640 foot pounds. Out of Glock 27 and Glock 33, the ammo hits 589 in the 27 and 540 in the 33. Most ammo companies neuter .40 and 10mm both. A lot of people don’t know that, because most people who care just work with 10mm anyway. For .40 it’s the Underwood 135 gr Nosler JHP and for .357 sig it’s the 124 gr nosler JHP. Furthermore, that’s saami spec, and .40 at 35,000 psi and .357 sig at 40,000. If you run .40 at 38,500, like 9mm +p pressure, you can shoot it in any gun other than stock Glock, and Glock with a Lone wolf barrel. The 135 grains can hit 767-820 foot pounds depending on barrel length. Loaded correctly, a 135 gr .40 in +p pressure will hit about 820 fpe out of the 5.3” barrel, like glock 35 with lone wolf barrel. Or pretty close out of the Beretta 96A1. But to get 675 from Underwood you only need a stock Glock 22 or also the Beretta 96A1

"The feeding ramp is polished to a mirror sheen. The slide's been reinforced, and the interlock with the frame is tightened for added precision. The sight system is original, too. The thumb safety is extended to make it easier on the finger. A long-type trigger with non-slip grooves. A ring hammer... The base of the trigger guard's been filed down for a higher grip. And not only that, nearly every part of this gun has been expertly crafted andcustomized. Where'd you get something like this?"

My problem with Sig Sauer 1911's are the mim parts. I have a Sig Sauer TACOPS 1911 10mm that has been rebuilt with milled parts and a full length guide rod, 24 lb recoil spring, 23 lb main spring, and a flat bottom firing pin retainer. Now the trigger is way better, it runs smooth and flat for a 10mm with full power ammo, and most importantly it doesn't beat itself to death.

In my personal opinion, it's a generally adequate firearm with notable accuracy. Awkward to conceal, but good for vehicles, ranges, nightstands, and open holsters. Capacity could be a concern, 7 for that size and power is miserable, but i felt pretty confident walking around with 2 eight round mags and a loaded chamber. 17 rounds of 45 can handle a lot of trouble. Grip safety worried me before i handled one, i forget they're there. I'd probably recommend llama and tisas for mil-spec models. If you're a gun guy and can afford it, there's hardly a reason not to really. I recommend milspec as I don't recommend 1911s for most tactical purposes.

After 2 failed attempts with Sig 1911's I think it's fitting to call their 1911's "NIGHTMARES". My C3 CT is at a local gunsmiths shop right now because Sig refused to have me ship it to them and look it over because it's over 1 year old and out of warranty according to the woman I spoke with over the phone. It has never been modified and ran fine for the first 2-250 rds and is now having slide lock issues on any mag with ammo still in it including Colts and Wilson Combats.

@@BillHunclebuncle I don't expect any product that has wear parts to be warranted by the manufacturer forever but the early Sig 1911's are notorious for having barrel fitting and small parts issues. Ohhhh damn, one of the first production 1911s I've seen with an external extractor!(I've seen this on super high end custom ones) It should make it considerably more reliable than an internal one with any kind of ammo, me likey. I'm amazed they didn't say anything about that! A very nice 1911, I like the other appointments and color scheme as well, good job Sig.

You failed to mention the most couple important aspects about a sig 1911. First it has an external extractor which is more durable and does not require tuning like an internal typical 1911 extractor. Second the slide shape is more squared with the sig dna cut lines. A lot of 1911 purist do not like these features as they are a deviation from classical 1911. As for me I like these two additional options.

@@MarxStevens please read my comment carefully before you accuse me of what I did not say. I did not say classical 1911 are not reliable. I just said that the external extractor is more durable and does it require tuning every once in a while. I have classical 19-1 with internal extractors and every 2500 rounds I have to return the internal extractor. I shoot a lot of competitions and keep track of if my round count to properly maintain my guns. Anyone who shoots 1911 extensively knows exactly about retuning internal extractors. Even Bill Wilson has some videos in that procedure as part of the maintenance.

why would anyone have a problem with using the slide release? i'm pretty sure manufacturers know better than anyone else what goes where, and that if it's there it's OF COURSE meant to be used. i guess some people just don't understand that guns are made to be used, not sit around and do nothing
