@@ShadowCatGambitmy grandfather who was a WW2 and Korean War vet with 2 purple heart's and part of the 187 Rakkasans told me the 1911 was the most reliable magazine fed sidearm he had ever seen. He rarely seen them malfunction and when it did happen it was usually because of a damaged magazine. He even watched them feed rounds with damaged casings & deformed slugs with ease. Unrelated but interesting none the less is that He also said some of their browning model 1917a1 would have cracked water cooling systems on them so they had to make a choice of using their drinking water to try and keep the guns cooled down, or use their beer they had stashed to cool them down, the last choice (the only real choice) was to piss in them to keep them cooled down and that's what they did! They may have had to smell burnt piss but atleast they had their beer & drinking water lol. ✌️

Interesting. How hard is it to find ammo? I've given up on the caliber. It is too pricey and VERY difficult to find in my state. Haven't seen any of that caliber on the shelves in a YEAR. I seriously think you should buy a conversion kit soon. I gave up and converted my Glock barrel to .40 S&W.
@SuperD00D7 ай бұрын
.40 has more potential in 135 or 155 grain projectiles than .357 sig does. Underwood maxed .40 out of a Glock 22 at 675 foot pounds and .357 sig at 640 foot pounds. Out of Glock 27 and Glock 33, the ammo hits 589 in the 27 and 540 in the 33. Most ammo companies neuter .40 and 10mm both. A lot of people don’t know that, because most people who care just work with 10mm anyway. For .40 it’s the Underwood 135 gr Nosler JHP and for .357 sig it’s the 124 gr nosler JHP. Furthermore, that’s saami spec, and .40 at 35,000 psi and .357 sig at 40,000. If you run .40 at 38,500, like 9mm +p pressure, you can shoot it in any gun other than stock Glock, and Glock with a Lone wolf barrel. The 135 grains can hit 767-820 foot pounds depending on barrel length. Loaded correctly, a 135 gr .40 in +p pressure will hit about 820 fpe out of the 5.3” barrel, like glock 35 with lone wolf barrel. Or pretty close out of the Beretta 96A1. But to get 675 from Underwood you only need a stock Glock 22 or also the Beretta 96A1

In my personal opinion, it's a generally adequate firearm with notable accuracy. Awkward to conceal, but good for vehicles, ranges, nightstands, and open holsters. Capacity could be a concern, 7 for that size and power is miserable, but i felt pretty confident walking around with 2 eight round mags and a loaded chamber. 17 rounds of 45 can handle a lot of trouble. Grip safety worried me before i handled one, i forget they're there. I'd probably recommend llama and tisas for mil-spec models. If you're a gun guy and can afford it, there's hardly a reason not to really. I recommend milspec as I don't recommend 1911s for most tactical purposes.

The thick grip destroys the original design. The leveraged slide lock/release is great! Reminds me of beretta. I would love a threaded 2011.

Sig makes some nice looking 1911s, but they are a no go for me with the external extractor - just ruins the whole look.
@jordanwiser419210 ай бұрын
That’s how it was originally done. Internal extractors didn’t come around until the 70’s

@@jordanwiser4192 - from what I can tell, the external version didn’t show up until 1962 - 50 years after the original rolled out. I have never seen a ‘20s-WWII copy with an external extractor.
