@@whitexiii3308 actually I literally just found out there was a comic where Zuko and Mai get together literally after the Season 2 finale basically Zuko is reluctant to go back to The Fire Nation so Azula and Ty Lee set up a date between Zuko and Mai but they quickly figure out they were set up so they leave to go for a walk where they meet Jin (a girl Zuko went on a date with in Tales of Ba Sing Sa) and after that Zuko and Mai have a talk which ends with Mai kissing him and Zuko deciding to go back to The Fire Nation to be with her and also to make sure his uncle is safe

The scene between Katara and her father is one of my favourites of the show. Something about emotional moments that dont threat feelings as black and white get to me because its so real. Because yes, her father had to leave. And no, that doesnt mean Katara has to be at peace with it. And knowing your feelings arent justified in no way means those feelings stop existing or are less real. In fact, that disconnect between what you consider right from a rational point of view and what fééls right can make a person doubt and blame themselves a lot. I got sexually abused when i was 16 by an older man. I know, rationally, he is to blame. Yet emotionally to this day 10 years later i still blame myself. And i blame myself for blaming myself. I know i escalated this crazy fast there, im sorry. But somehow that scene always struck a cord with me...

One of my favorite episodes: 1. Aang was so badass here especially with Yue's help with the storm and the wave. Seeing him so serious prepared me that this is it, you just feel for him. 2. Katara and her heartfelt, realistic feelings about her father going to war (very similar to kids at the time whose parents went to war). 3. Ozai reveal finally for so long and his relationship with his kids contrasting with Katara and her Dad.

Hope, the baby, is crying as Fire Nation soldiers march through the city to claim it. Jin appears in the tea shop during the Fire Nation invasion. At one point Sokka says they had crossed into the Serpent's Pass a few days earlier; later the Fire Nation ship is attacked by the same sea serpent. There is a scene in which Zuko is feeding the turtle ducks in the Fire Nation palace courtyard, and when Azula arrives, they flee. Ozai's handsome design was intentional to depict even the most evil can appear to be otherwise on the outside, similarly to real life. In ATLA, every detail counts, pay keen attention, especially in this season.

The non-canon chibi short "Bending Battle" originally aired just prior to this episode. At exactly the same moment Zuko thinks he has regained his honor, Aang loses it. This is the last time Earth King Kuei appears in the series. This is the first episode in which Ozai's face is seen fully. This is the last episode in which Aang's original glider is shown. Aang's usage of a piece of driftwood to surf a large wave he created is identical to Kuruk's flashback where he is shown surfing. This is the first episode in which Ember Island is mentioned. Fun Fact: Dave Filoni, the creator of Star Wars: the Clone Wars worked on Avatar. I say that because Avatar: the Last Airbender's seasons reflect Star Wars episode 4, 5 and 6. Season 1 and Episode 4 ended with a victory for Luke and Aang. Season 2 and Episode 5 ended with Luke and Aang suffering a defeat because they tried to save their friends and family. I won't talk about the end of Season 3 because we aren't there yet.

Oh how things have reversed for Aang and Zuko. The duology and parallels are just amazing! Poor Aang. I can definitely understand how he was feeling when Sokka was overjoyed at his "dead" status. He felt immense guilt for being 100 years late and having the world without hope for so long. Now the world is seemingly without hope again. It's a lot to bear, especially after dying and failing big time back in Ba Sing Se. We finally get to see Ozai's face! I love how the show thus far has built him up to be this shadowy and dangerous monster but in actuality, he just looks like a normal human being. I remember thinking it was hard to believe that such a handsome and normal-looking guy could be the cause of so much suffering both for the world and for his son 😂 Mae Whitman, Katara's VA, was phenomenal this episode! I found myself tearing up when Katara broke down emotionally like that. She's been so strong and holding everything together thus far that it was about time she let everything out, and allowed herself this huge moment of vulnerability. Zach Tyler Eisen, Aang's VA, was also fantastic this episode too! For a kid, I always found it impressive just how wide of a range he had in terms of emotions. Even more impressive is how most of his recordings for ATLA were done in Connecticut via satellite!

Not to spoil anything, but the comics go more into the relationship between the Northern and Southern tribes, and the Northern tribe does not tend to think well of their sister tribe, so he probably wouldn't have had a good chance with Yue either way.
