This video is about iMovie Tutorial 2015 - Multiple Picture in Picture Overlay Tutorial. WOW, this really pushed my system to it's limits!! It crashed 4 times trying to screen record, edit, and record the voice over track, but..... I got it done!! Woo Hoo (^_^)
Basically, this video shows you how to get around the one video picture-in-picture limitation that Apple's iMovie has. There is a lot of rinse and repeating but you can get the same thing accomplished in iMovie that you can in the $299 Final Cut Pro X.
Thanks for Watching!! ET

This is so difficult for something that could be easily fixed. I demand multiple overlay editing capabilities!

@Nic so because you're poor, companies should give you their hard work for free? Apple is cheap enough. Logic Pro used to cost $4,500 before Apple acquired them and dropped the price to 200 with free upgrades.

I just tried it and it does work (I wasn't sure if my 2015 iMovie 10.1 supported the picture-in-picture feature BUT I find that for a single picture in the corner and then the main video at the remainder of the screen, you can do it much faster. I selected the main video clip, and then added a small clip and placed it on the TOP of the first one and the 'Picture in Picture' control became visible. This way I render the final video ONE (1) time and it retains the quality better and saves on computer time. I don't need the black background frame just for 2 videos in the frame. iMovie supports 2 video tracks simultaneously. Thanks fro a great video.

I was hoping the method you showed wouldn't be that one where you do multiple exports. They really need to add an option for multiple PIPs and even more such as the ability to select which area of each video you want to show in side-by-side. By default, it selects the fitted middle 8:9 frame and you can't change that.

This helps so much!! I have a 40 minutes video and your video shows how to add image... I have to save my video each time...? I'm student teaching and I'm recording my lessons. I have a 40 minutes long lesson. I don't have every parents' consent to record their kids so I have to cover the ones who haven't given me the approval. 3 students meaning I have to save the video each time? I was able to add one student's face but I couldn't add more.

Hi ET, novice GoPro and editor here even new to KZbin. I've watched all your tips and find your movies quick precise and narrated well. So thanks for all that. As a request, I wonder if you can explain how to edit baseball batt swing tracer tips. Trying to see the bat swing path using iMovie. All searches I find tracing a ball flight, esp related to golf, but I am trying to find iMovie way to tracer a bat swinging. Hope this comment is appropriate and easily understood. Thanks for your consideration and of course for all your iMovie edit instruction!

@ET_Videos

+Amanda Nicole Don't think you can remove that text fade in. If you make an image of the text with a transparent background you can use picture-in-picture to put the text where you want and turn off the fading. It's kind of a work around kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJaqmWRqqLxkjLc

Thanks for that my friend,but i think we should give the programer and designer of the new version of IMovie a BIG pat on the shoulder and a big TROPHY which i call ""Complications Trophy"" as they made something that took 5 second on the OLD version of IMovie to do, be changed to a version that took 9 minutes for an export like you to do. I have over 400 videos on you tube and 300 hours of films all done on the old version with no major problems with old version. And this bunch of designers have come up with new version,Sleek and up market, but totally unworkable and like a good swimmer friend of mine,,"" with one arm""'. Looks good but slow on performance. Much appreciate you help we subbed because i am sure we have to come back for more help and some more with this LAME new version. Merry Christmas my friend and thanks again.
