When a financial institution or bank pulls your credit report from credit bureaus this is considered a hard inquiry.
Every time a hard inquiry hits your credit report, your credit score drops a few points, regardless of whether you get the credit approval or not.
On the other hand, if you check your credit report yourself or apply for a prequalification, it’s considered a soft inquiry and does not hurt your credit score.
Although hard inquiries stay on your credit report for over two years, the credit bureaus only consider inquiries from the last 12 months when calculating your credit score.
You should make sure you do not apply for too many credits at once and rack up a bunch of hard inquiries. and most importantly, pay your bills and debts on time and in full to maintain a good credit score

@@dhiraj7m One feels or is free to enquire the best offer interest rate anywhere, in this process the banks looking into ones info results the system Hotlisting the profile so they can't take multiple loans at one go, this is only for bank safety. That's a glitch actually, but it appears the banks use this to their advantage, so the customer loan is processed at a higher rate.

There's an exception.. you can go to multiple banks for inquiry.. but all the enquires should be within 15days.. More than that will effect your score.

True that. Hard enquiries do reduce score but not to this extent. Subsequent enquiries have a lesser impact than the initial 10 points. This is half baked knowledge dispensed through bad acting.

You are wrong, all home loan enquiries done with multiple banks at short period of time count as just 1 single enquiry in cibil. You can go and check rules regarding this. But for credit card they are always separate enquiry.

This happened to me recently, this a******* banker first call daily 20-30 times for personal loan. Sir personal loan le lo, ye bol bol ke Jaan kha jate hai. In logo ki wajah se mene unknown numbers se call pick karna hi band kar diya hai. Now when i actually wanted a personal loan, this looser told that due to some obligation, hum loan nahi de sakte. To bhai, din bhar 20-30 times call karte kyu ho Finally loan bhi nahi diya or Cibil score kam kar diya

BTW guys i want to make you aware - if you apply for a credit card sitting from your home only online, then also it counts as hard enquiry and my cibil score got bloody impacted 2 times (2 times because I applied for HDFC card, but first time i did not complete the process, and 2nd time when i sat on my pc to complete,then i had to start fresh application and it counted 2 hard enquiries for 1 credit card application 😭😭😭 )

CIBIL is a private organization. It is a third class organization. They charge yearly fee and when you raise a query for an wrong hard enquiry on you, they tell to contact the organisation directly..The most pathetic and third class loan system in India.

Nonsense system hai. Banks need to do more due diligence by themselves, not rely on a number that can be gamed. Someone earning 3.5 lakh, with payments on time is a great person to loan to.

No sense if you have 3.5lakh monthly salary it means you are not fresher in a company and before it you can easily save 50lakh in 2-3 years and in case you are fresher with 35 lakh package then no one is in hurry to make home at 22 with loan. Easily wait for a year and half
