Wow, an actual experiment to evaluate our metrics empirically? What is this world coming to? Surprisingly, I've never seen anyone do anything like this and I think it's incredibly valuable. It seems to me that there are a lot of untested premises floating around in the world of terminal performance. Keep up the good work!

Impact speed is what Roy Weatherby was promoting back in 1943. Hammer bullets are proving he was right.

Hammer isn't proving anything, pretty much what monos paired with overbore magnums like weatherby cartridges is doing is trying to get range by throwing a badminton birdie as fast as possible rather than getting better results from just tossing a rock as in using a smaller more efficient cartridge with a more efficient bullet.

Now after these years I can finally put a face on “Bean” besides your pic on Long Range Forum. I’m glad you decided to put some videos on KZbin and your channel. I’m slowly making transition to Hammer from many years with Nosler. Steve is helping me with my .280 Ackley because it’s a Christensen Arms. Anyways always read your posts on the forum. Really close to crimping because of you but the FCD hard to get now. Anyways, got my support on this channel and will get word out. You have a lot of good info to share.

What are your opinions on the owner of hammer bullets working with anti hunters who want to ban lead ammunition? What are your opinions of the owner of hammer bullets with his disregard of the rules of firearm safety in the video where he shot into a herd of audad not knowing what was behind his target, killing a second audad and possibly wounding a third?

So many things wrong with this video and so much bad information. First energy is only a potential and it's directly dependent on the bullet performance. The hammer bullets are terrible bullets both in testing and the field. They have done nothing to help aid expansion by weakening the bullet. We cut one open it's just solid copper with a 1/16" hole that's 8/10" deep. It blew through the bucket without much more than splitting the sides. It didn't dump the advertised energy not even close. By the way shooting water jugs doesn't translate into how it will perform on animals. With these bullets you have to run lighter bullets at higher velocities and you still can't achieve the same type of performance as a good lead core bullet. Hammers blow through without a good permanent wound cavity or temporary wound cavity. They are in the bottom of even performance of solids. The poor design also leads to necking over. Saying that it's killed doesn't mean anything. Any projectile launched through a organ will kill. You can kill with a musket ball that doesn't mean it's got good terminal performance. These types of videos with "tests" drive me nuts. It's just unqualified guys spreading misinformation with tests that doesn't actually show the terminal performance of the bullet.
@butterbeansbarstool5414

Did you copy and paste this reply from LRH because we have all seen this post before, your entitled to your opinion and that’s what it is, your opinion, our tests on over 250 animals on 3 continents have proven otherwise, have a great rest of the day
@longrangehuntinggroup7223
@longrangehuntinggroup7223 2 жыл бұрын
Yes I copied and pasted the above statement that perfectly addresses your videos from somewhere else. lol seriously? It has nothing to do with opinions it has to do with provable facts. Anyone with decent knowledge of bullet construction and terminal ballistics will tell you the same thing I did. If shooting water jugs translates to terminal performance why isn't the FBI and every other bullet testing place just shooting water jugs instead of ballistics gel? Hitting water jugs at high velocity is like hitting a brick wall. Great to stop bullets with enough water and see expansion on crappy bullets. What actual data do you get from this? How is your expert water shooting test showing that it translates into good terminal performance for hunting? You're telling people it's amazing you should at least know what you're talking about and have data to back it up. Your "water" test doesn't show the permanent wound cavity from the bullet. It doesn't show the temporary wound cavity (how much energy was actually transferred). It doesn't show you if you only achieved hydrostatic shock or if you actually achieved hydraulic shock. It doesn't show you the bullet because even hitting a jug of water at 2800 fps it still blew straight through. How do you know how much expansion you actually achieved? See the problem here you literally have zero data for your so called test that you're recommending these bullets for hunting. That bullet hit that jug which is a hell of a lot more impact resistance than animals and it blew through. On animals it's going to do the same thing but with less expansion. I deal in hard data not opinions. You literally have zero data from this test. I have multiple ballistics gel tests, results from the field, and a good knowledge of bullets construction and terminal ballistics. The fact you just said I must have copied and pasted the response and have a nice day shows me that you don't actually know enough to discuss it. When you recommend a bullet that by design in inferior and doesn't give good performance. That in turn can result in wounded and longer suffering animals. As hunters our goal is a quick clean kill. In order to achieve that good bullets and good shot placement are key. A bullet that blows through without good expansion causing a good permanent wound cavity and transfer of energy is not going to kill as fast. A good bullet will go in expand creating a good permanent wound cavity and transfer of shock resulting in a quick clean kill. You are doing the equivalent of telling people using dull broadheads is better than using razor sharp ones.
