Impacts of Baltimore's Community Violence Program

The Center for Gun Violence Solutions at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health hosted a hybrid event to discuss a new evaluation estimating the effects of Safe Streets Baltimore, a community violence intervention program, on gun violence and to strategize on what is needed to continue or strengthen program impacts.
Daniel Webster, ScD, MPH, distinguished research scholar in the Center for Gun Violence Solutions and Bloomberg Professor of American Health, presented data from the new report. A panel discussion included representatives from the Center, the Baltimore Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement, LifeBridge Health, and Catholic Charities of Baltimore, two community-based organizations contracted by the city to run the program; and a Safe Streets representatives.
