I tried this mod out last year, i was really excited to tried it out, but I quickly realized it was one of "those" mods that thinks tedium = difficulty, waiting 8+ turns to recruit units isn't challenging, it's fucking boring

Yeah - I have no idea why creators and reviewers think "Challenging" = better. Most of the people that do, don't like Empire enough to bother playing mods anyway. It is fun because it is easy, and you can win in unusual ways.

I wish this mod were still being developed. Overall, it has a great foundation but there were many things that just didn't make sense. For example, removing dragoons' ability to dismount. Many things can be fixed with sub-mods but not everything. The new regions are fantastic, and I hope other mod teams can find a way to replicate it.

It makes perfect sense. Dragoons stopped dismounting and became heavy cavalry during this period, and also the AI can’t handle dismounting units properly.

Imperial destroyer removes churches, priests, forts, fortifications, trading ships, assassinations, 2 army formations and some diplomatic options. If you want the game with less features, that's your go to. They did managed to add regions, something that no other mod achieved.

Yeah pretty much the only things it gives you are more regions and slightly better AI, the latter of which you can get in plenty of other mods that actually add features. You're legitimately better off playing vanilla lmao

Hi there. After my first attempt with Realistic Battles for Imperial Destroyer 1.0 I'm working in a deeper overhaul of battles and military recruitment with RBID 2.0. As their name implies the goal is to reach the best realism possible for a game like this. Imperial Destroyer has great naval battles, so minor changes are applied here, mostly ship acceleration. Land battles, on the other hand, need badly an overhaul because ID is mainly focused in gå-på swedish style tactics which is non applicable to late battles or colonial warfare. Also recruitment limits, costs and maintenance are revised in order to try to match historical records. Best regards

If anyone has any questions about the mod, feel free to ask me. I didn't work on it, but it's basically the only way I play Empire anymore as it's the best thing until we get Empire 2. I I think the battle submod may be new as I haven't played that, but I've used all the other submods, re-added gameplay options, and mod-esc script edits. Quick correction, he had all the new regions right except the Americas theatre, which has 5 new regions instead of 2. I always loved playing the non-European factions in this game and this mod makes them 1000% more fun. Thanks Termi for covering the best Empire mod and keep up the great work! 😁

Well since you insisted.. I downloaded the mod and installed it. Everything seems to be working fine. However, there is no text in any place where it should be. Only periods or zeros. Even the main menu selection buttons are blank. Not sure what caused this?

"Mod Z better than mod X?" "Mod Y is (title)'s best total war mod ever made!" As a long time follower of your channel seeing the constant use of "BEST" and "INCREDIBLE" has made all those words lose their meanings, everything seems like the BEST to the point where nothing is really consistent or genuine anymore. I mean how many times have I heard "This mod is AS GOOD AS if not better than Divide Impera // 1212AD" I can honestly say I've stopped clicking because of titles or thumbnails, they just don't mean anything anymore.

Can you recruit faction units outside of your core territory? Or can you only recruit militia, this issue is one of the reason I wind up going back to darthmod. In some mods pushing a faction outside of their core Territory renders them harmless as they can no longer recruit their good units even if they conquered half the world

Some questions for players of this mod if anyone happens to see this comment. My pc is on it's last legs and I'll have to replace it in a few months and I think it's a perfect opportunity to try out a new mod. The contenders are Imperial Destroyer and Pirates Uber Alles. Regarding trade ships, I heard there is a cap (A rather low one at that). Does the pirate faction have the same limitations? Also, which factions start off with trade fleets, and is the recruitment cap in addition to whatever trade ships you might start with? finally, the cap is only to do with recruitment, right? I could, for example, have more if I captured them off of an enemy faction?

This mod is great, especially with VDM, but after trying it for some time it really has the same issues that most Empire mods do. It crashes on the AIs turn after a while and then you are just soft locked, your campaign is over. I can often forgive this in Darthmod, it has a great deal more stability seemingly, and the turns progress the game quicker. Imperial Destroyer is very slow paced, I played a Great Britain campaign which was excellent and really did it for my immersion (I studied early modern history). BUT, I only managed to get to 1706 before Russia crashed the game. Now my brief but interesting campaign is over and I hardly unlocked most of the units.

my question is does it fix india, i even tried darthmod and for some reason no matter what I do india always ends up super overpowered by the lategame and steamrolls the campaign map. does this mod balance/fix that bug (i had the mughals invade prussia on my last darthmod playthrough)

It doesn't really fix it, no. But the Mughal Empire lasts a lot longer. I've found it better to play the Mughal Empire anyway; I've defeated the Maratha Confederacy in 11 turns. After that the Punjab doesn't take long at all.

I think that both mods are great. I switch between them often just depends whether you want fun or realism. Etw2 is more fun but less realistic.

They added new regions in Americas and Middle East but didn’t make divide France into multiple regions? That was always an emersion killer for me, since France should not be conquerable in the first 5 turns IMO

Nobody figured a way to create new regions, so it's not possible to divide France. But it's possible to take uninhabited region and turn it into a normal region with cities, and that's what a few mods do. The list of such regions is small and fixed. The problem is that the map has some really convoluted AI navigation information that was created by CA internal build tool, and we never figured out how to do it.

I was downloading the mod when I've heard about unrest and more expensive units. So I sent it to the recycle bin with no regrets. Whatever a mod may have if it keeps spamming rebel armies is not for me. It was the reason I've deleted Atilla. Also expensive units is another limitation and it reminds me of Rome 2 so no, not for me

Mainly from a battle perspective. Many of the changes to things like fatigue, morale or even accuracy often is too realistic for its own good. Or making things like 1 single cannon per unit. There are elements of realism that foregoes balance essentially
