wow, what a great demonstration in how Ezio is literally the only person on this entire planet who ever stabs anyone, he really is the villain of all of Diplomacy with his "see dot, take dot" mentality. now, obviously, in some _extreme circumstances_, even someone as peace-loving and agreeable as CptMeme may have to, purely defensively, occupy a dot that he did not start the game with, but clearly that is for the greater good and his hand was forced.

@@ison002 it was joked about at some point in the blitz game, how that would've been game number 4 by the order it's played, but number 3 by the order released. They figured it'd be funny to make this number 2.5 since it's a companion with the other Spain game, and 2.5 blindly translated into Roman numerals is II.V Hope that helps

When you guys were talking about the game in the beginning I really got the vibe that it would go terribly for meme. Now that I watched the whole thing, I just cant see how this isn't a solo. The Spain gameplay here is insane. If I tried pulling off any of the stabs that Meme did I would've been coalitioned year two!

Kongo here. I wrote an extensive void covering my thoughts on this game, a void where I pay quite a bit more attention to what Spain is doing than Spain pays attention to what Kongo is doing! It can be that way with colonials and regionals sometimes. The short version, though, is that for this phase of the game I was quite happy to see Spain do well! In fact, just about any amount of Spanish growth was theoretically good for me, especially once they started clashing with colonials that were much closer to me. Provided that Spain didn't outright solo, of course. But with a staggering win condition of 64 supply centers, I considered them to be an "SC Sponge" that could grow very large while still not ending the game so long as they faced any meaningful opposition.

It feels like with the impdip victory conditions, permanent alliance play (ie, trusting somebody unconditionally to not stab you because you know that player in real life, and just going for a joint victory from year 1) would let you play two regionals as a pseudo-colonial and have an absurd amount of force concentrated in a small area. I honestly don't see how you could lose if you just played like that. Unlike standard dip there's no point where you're forced to stab, it seems like a much more reliable way to get to the victory condition than playing normally/fairly. How do you even stop something like that?

I was looking a bit at the map and wanted to ask : Can Manadao get into Arafura sea at the start or does it have 2 coasts? because if so, if the Dutch and the Portuguese exchange Tidor and Ceylon in 02 (or Tidor and another territory) and the Moughals don't go for the Andaman Islands (both fairly easy things to achieve diplomatically wise) the Dutch have guaranteed 8 centers in Indonesia. Which.. is a lot tbf. Like quite a lot honestly in about every theatre the Dutch and the Portuguese have a strong interest in being allies lol

the more I look at this the more I am speechless. Unless Spain gets into Halmahera sea in 01, exchanging Timor with Ceylon (or other territories or support) grants mathematically 5, possibly 6 new centers in Indonesia by the end of 02. Like, those + the 3 they start with. It's amazing

if anyone is wondering is basically about as optimal as the Italian standard opening of "Naples to ionian, Rome to Apulia, Venice to Rome" and basically with the Dutch in Indonesia is : N Ceylon -> Indian Ocean -> Sumatra N Makassar -> Flores Sea -> Convoy to Banjarmasin N Manado -> Arafura Sea -> Flores like the more I think about it the more this is the objectively best opening. Mind eventually commentating this in a video? I thought it was pretty cool tbf
