I for one am very happy the monarchy still exists. Yes, yes, I’ve heard the arguments against, but the monarchy speaks of cultural value, of dignity and nobility, not just of a given family, no, but of an entire people-and I daresay of humanity. @michaelmontagu3979 Жыл бұрын
@kingofrandom4816 It's more complicated than that. The coffin has two lids. The top, false, lid has the Royal Standard attached to it. Then the cushion for the crown is fixed and in its centre is a mounting to hold the crown securely. The fittings for the orb and sceptre are screwed into the false lid. When the coffin goes down, it arrives in a small room, and is then taken through a corridor into the Royal Vault, which is under the Albert Memorial Chapel, not St George's. It was placed on the ledger stone and the false lid and fittings removed. Then both The Queen and Prince Philip's coffins were brought back up and interred on shelves in the King George VI vault, ready for the committal service.

So many secrets that she knew...she took them all to the grave... so many things we will never knew... this Queen sat on the throne through all the wars, the Great Depression, even Jim Crow...and she talked to all the heads of state and their wives...all the letters she received... It just boggles my mind... Irregardless, rest in Peace. I just know she is with Phillip again. You know she didn't last long after his passing. It's just amazing to me. She witnessed a lot and at a level few others will ever know... few mortals that is. Selah.

As if the removal of the Imperial Crown, Orb & Scepter (symbolically UN-crowning her late Majesty) wasn't hard enough to witness, what hit Me the most was when her Lord Chamberlain (whose final task was the planning, organization & overall direction of every facet of this state funeral) broke his wand of office, signifying his job was done and the reign of Queen Elizabeth II was sadly...over.
@pauljordan44522 жыл бұрын
The crown always passes to the heir when the previous monarch dies. The late queen was not un-crowned.
@alecs11962 жыл бұрын
@@pauljordan4452No kidding!! lol Did you miss:"symbolically" prefacing my metaphoric allusion? But as you appear to be a stickler for protocol, then you must distinguish the [concept] of "the crown"(aka the title of sovereign) which DID pass immediately to her late majesty's son, from the [tangible hardware] of the jewelled coronet, which following it's removal from the coffin, was placed upon the chapel's high altar, where (to quote the video's caption detail) it will remain thusly ensconced, along with the orb and scepter, until King Charles official coronation in 2023. However, to again re-use my above adjective: I might further speculate that the afore-mentioned Imperial regalia now displayed therein, is in reality even MORE "symbolic" as I'm certain even now it's already one of the many (quite authentic looking!) replica sets of the crown jewels, and the real ones have been safely returned to their vault in the Tower of London.

Watching the Service at Windsor Chapel was a wonderful culmination of the events of the last 11 days or so. Getting to watch this last public Service was a great privilege as it combined personal aspects as well as matters of the Queen's Office of the Crown. The removal of her Crown and Scepter and Orb from her coffin was incredibly moving as was the lone bagpiper slowly receding from view but still able to be heard thereafter. Much gratitude for all the wonderful coverage that allowed us to share in the love and respect bestowed on Her Majesty for all she has given us over the last 75 years and beyond. Thank you Queen Elizabeth. Rest in Peace. ♥️
