When you started your IDE you already had Target folder and Main class. How you had basic directory structure setup? I do not see it in my Intelli J CE

At 2:15, notice that I have selected the checkbox: add sample code. This helps in creating the basic structure of the project. Regarding the target folder: You can either run the project from IntelliJ OR you can run mvn install. Using either of the two methods, you can create the target folder. Hope this helps.

I don't think we can create json based RPC APIs. The RPC APIs need to be communicating using protocol buffers.
