11 de febrero de 2022 Webinar: Implementing diabetes screening and prevention in the population: From trials to the population.
The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) has estimated that the number of adults with diabetes is expected to rise from 425 million in 2017 to 629 million by 2045. Type 2 diabetes mellitus does not cause specific symptoms for many years at onset, which explains why between 25%-50% of the cases of Type 2 diabetes mellitus remain undiagnosed at any time in the population. Finally, the treatment of T2D is difficult and regardless of pharmacological treatment blood glucose levels have shown to increase over time. Randomized clinical trials have shown that diabetes can be delayed and/or prevented in people with impaired glucose tolerance. Thus, it is important to implement the experiences of these trials for the benefit of the population on large scale.
This webinar will provide a brief overview of the current experience in implementing the results of randomized clinical trials to the population in different parts of the world. Experiences from Finland, Spain, the USA, and Colombia will be presented.
Webinar participants are encouraged to share their experiences and bring questions on various aspects of diabetes prevention in the population.
