The Library sounds great, but it is your composition that really shines.

Interesting demo of your composition and the Spitfire library. I really enjoyed your composition. Especially, the buildup of tension in long note intervals and the release into the light staccato section.

Loved your composition. And definitely would like to have a deeper look into it. I'm one of the new subs. Been watching for about a month now. Learning a lot, thank you. I don't read sheet music yet, so the way you use the midi editor to show what you're teaching really helps.

An enlightening & effective showcase of the available articulations, it's a veritable smorgasbord of strings 8-)

Nice review - one of my favorite string libraries. I was thinking it would be interesting to see your composition process after listening to the piece. And then you mentioned at the end possibly going through that process in another video. One "yes" vote -- thanks!

I've been looking at Spitfire's string libraries for a few years and going to "pull the trigger," on purchasing one. Thank you for the demo/review and great pieces of compositions!

Nice piece, shows off the library well. I've had Chamber Strings for a while and eventually upgraded to Pro during some sale. But I think it's great that Spitfire finally made this library (or quite a bit of it anyway) more financially available to composers who may just be starting out. I do think Chamber Strings is probably one of the most valuable Spitfire libraries I have. Right up there with the Albions and BBC SO. I'd be interested in a break down of the piece you wrote.

Thanks for this walkthrough Chris. I was just curious to see how much of the full version (which I own) was included. This is a fantastic library and is my workhorse for almost all of my string work. Like you say in your comments, the Essentials version pretty much covers the bases. Regarding the vibrato, while the depth is modifiable with the Vibrato slider (though not dramatically so), the vibrato speed is fixed and recorded in the samples. This is particularly noticeable if you use the doubling technique (Cristian Henson first made me aware of this trick) of using two instances of a voice for a bigger sound, detuning one and then transposing it back to normal tuning. Because the vibrato speed is recorded in the sample, the vibrato speed is actually slower in the detuned instance and can sound a bit off. BTW, the speed and tightness sliders can be very useful in refining the sound, the speed for the legato transition speed and the tightness for tightening up the shorts. And the release slider for increasing the release tails for more gracious slow lines.

The standard version is my main string library and I would have been tempted by this, but I don't think it has the flautando patch which is a shame. Their excellent intimate strings is dirt cheap though, so combined with this you'd have most bases covered.
@ImpliedMusic Жыл бұрын
Yes. I miss the flautando too.

Thanks for the review & demonstration! If may know, what Kontakt version that Spitfire Chamber Strings Essentials support? Can I use the older version like Kontakt 6? Thank you 🙏🏻

Great demonstration, sick skills! :) Is this your favorite chamber strings library on the market? I don't like/want symphony size either.

It’s broadly my first choice. Other libraries go deeper into specific sounds of course

This library seems capable of mocking up a very reasonable string quartet..that’s a good thing 🏅🙏🏿🙏🎩
@ImpliedMusic Жыл бұрын
agreed. the sound is bit broader than a quartet, as you've got 3 players per instrument, but the sound is intimate and very clean.
@desoconnor7445 Жыл бұрын
Yes correct ..and there is a massive gap in the market for a library to experiment with the quartet ensemble format..maybe ..as it is such an intimate ensemble format …a la Max Richter ..et al ..At least as as far as I know..Spitfire offer two variants . the SQ one which I Like…best I have heard and the the other is not so hot IMHO … I’ve tried to create a hybrid SQ combining various combinations of instruments from various producers with unsatisfactory outcomes ..it’s great to have coherent libraries to experiment with in any format ..so much so the quartet option. If I had a wish ..which actually I do then I would love SFA to produce a more accessible library to experiment with as a time limited demo…makes sense perhapses a foolish wish ..knowing the work load to do so _the gap is there to fill.🙏🏿🎩👍😥🎩

This is the same core library it’s always been. Just rebranded.

respectfully, the articulation set is different, as is the price. Core is bit more extensive. ... and then there's pro. i do think you're right that it's the same sample set purposed into an affordable library.
