I have spent the last several days watching videos looking for how to turn a .stl file to vectors in Aspire. The part I was missing was to put a boundary around the image. This video explained it quite well.

Thanks, this is helpful. What if I want to carve the model out of sheets of 2" thick foam to be assembled in layers?

I have trouble with the zero plane. How do I move down the zero plane to make the whole model?

is there anyway to go back to the orient the 3D model once you move on so you can go back and resize/move the model up or down.

This helped me a lot. I have an MPCNC machine. It's homebuilt. There are things I want to carve like an Old West building in 3D from a 2D image but I don't know how to do that. I'm going to learn Fusion360. I understand that it is impossible to use F360 files in Aspire, but, people are doing it. Can you make a video about that? F360 seems pretty easy. Thanks, Mike

It's not that I don't appreciate the effort that goes into making a tutorial vid. But I found this so frustrating, it's hard to be constructive in my criticism. I feel the need to leave a warning to any future viewer.. He spends 13 minutes exploring all the little "features" that you have almost certainly clicked on and played with already and will likely never actually use. Generates a toolpath that not only will not lead to carving the part but will actually make it hard to get any sort of result. Then goes back to the beginning and starts over. By the time its all done, you will be absolutely no closer to actually making the toolpaths to actually carve a 3d part.
