I grow in straight composted Chicken manure, never fed my plants and they produce heavily all season long. Maybe I have a bit too much Nitrogen because I do have a bit of delay before they flower compared to using generic potting soil. Its just a 2 week delay and then I have peppers all over the place and many fruiting sites from the extreme vegetative growth early on.

I keep adding things and fertilizer to my peppers throughout their growth to help them. I don't know if the soil I have has added fertilizer in but normally mix it with a ratio of compost and bone meal. Started adding eggshells and banana skins to see if it helps add what's missing. Fertilize with fish emulsion and keep adding periodically. The things that I have noticed was I was watering too often and it curled the leaves as they get rain water too so the leaves looked terrible. So tried to water less and just let the rain do so. The leaf curling thing has periods of growing well and not curling to doing it again so I have no idea what causes it. Just have been trying to take care of them the best I can. Only water them now when I need to add the fertilizer

I thought pepper plants don't like nitrogen?
@FarmerGeorge

They do, nitrogen is especially required in the early stages of growth. When flowering and maturing fruit they need less of it and more potassium and phosphorus. Does that help?

Potassium is why the leaves had brown burns on the tips and causes curly as potassium helps cell formation along with calcium. Miracle grow is far to high in n and I prefer a balanced feed like champak 20-20-20 at quarter strength.

@@FarmerGeorge slow release is good how ever it is controlled by temperature so if it'd been cold the nutrients won't release as soon as it warms up you get a huge load of grow put on in a short space of time leading to sappy weak growth. Seaweed extract is a great feed to. Also excess potassium locks up magnesium etc. I'm also not sure why you need to feed plants when there dormant they have sorted enough for next spring.

My ghost pepper leaves are turning white, it’s not mold or mildew it’s pale green and white in the veins. It’s a baby seedling but the true leaves are deficient. The only thing I found was it might be iron deficiency. Have you dealt with this and how I can fix it. My medium is half seed starter mix and half potting mix in a 19 oz Bonnie plant container
@FarmerGeorge
@FarmerGeorge 4 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that. I’m sure it’ll bounce back! Seedlings don’t require much fertilizer other than what’s in the potting mix to start, so I don’t think it’s a nute problem. My first inclination is a light problem, is it getting enough light? Is it under a grow dome or plastic starter dome? Let me know and we can go from there 🔥👨‍🌾

Farmer George thanks for the quick reply. It has a total of 6 leaves, it is still tiny about 2” height. I showed some people, someone said it might be sunscold. I’ve been keeping it under LED tube lights for about 12 hours a day and they are pretty close about 6-8” to the plant because I’m germinating seeds right next it and I only have one light/growing area. Maybe the light is too low and on too long for this? Because other than the white patchiness on the leaves everything looks healthy.
@FarmerGeorge
@FarmerGeorge 4 жыл бұрын
@@degacci No problem! Cool, I don't think that the lights are that close actually. That is about the height I keep my lights (actually a little closer because my lights are cheap). Mine were suffering and appeared near death... then I decided to go for broke, threw a bunch of crushed June bugs in there, and buried in some bait worms (nightcrawlers) from Walmart. The mugs have started banging ever since when it comes to Nitrogen, Magnesium, and Calcium absorption from their look. Temp dropped and I put some bone meal on top of the soil, and they went crazy on the flowers. I’d water them like rain to make the bushes shake. All in all pretty baller results and easily my best yield. I’m a scrub at gardening, but it’s fun.

My pepper plant has yellowing leaves (like oyu showed in the video) but are also slightly browning - looks almost like downy mildew. but I can't seem to find anything about downy mildew on pepper plants on the internet. Does downy mildew happen on pepper plants? Or is my issue nutrient deficiency?
