This is really great content. Why wasn't I subscribed to this before? On a related note, it would be helpful if you can show step-by-step guide to develop permaculture, and other sustainable practices. Many of us might already know the importance or atleast understand the need to be sustainable, but find ourselves helpless to do anything as we don't know where to begin! Guides I'd found elsewhere were relevant to foreign climate & ecosystems. Perhaps, something relevant to Indian context will go a long way in enabling Indian people & communities to be sustainable. Appreciate all your efforts!

Query: I am from India, Darjeeling Hills. The average annual rainfall of Darjeeling District is 2,812.2 mm from April to October. Kindly suggest how to manage the cultivation in this type of climate. My area is a Terrace Field.

Permaculture is new. 15 acre ka farm lekar 10 lakh ke investment me kam ho jayega. Isme paisa kuch nahi milega lekin ek couple will remain happy in natural ecosystem

One question, does permaculture always need open sunny land? I have a backyard where sunlight is for a short time As the trees on the bordering areas shades it.

No you can work with the land and climate. See what crops best fit and go from there.

I WANT TO START PERMACULTURE RIGHT FROM MY HOUSE. I HAVE SOLAR SYSTEM, RAIN WATER HARVESTING, VERMIBED FOR COMPOSTING, A GARDEN, BORE WELL AND TREE PLANTATION. WHO WILL DESIGN FOR ME . I AM AT DAUND NEAR PUNE
@crypton_8l873 жыл бұрын
you could do it yourself slowly.. trail and error.. if your land is over exposed and eroding, you may need to 1) contour the watersheds a little initially to retain/slow down the water. 2) have native trees/ native flowering shrubs as windbreakers to start with.. 3) keep add/accumulating natural leaf litter and add mulching - IF it is in an arid dry area. 4) add dung based natural composting liquids/vermicompost/ etc whenever you can afford to make it. 5) keep the soil protected and undisturbed so microorganisms can do the work for you 6) slowly establish different types of native plants in areas that are natural to their type or where they can be seen to thrive

Please share link. Rajiv Malhotra usually has good solid evidence to back what he says. I heard from Ravindra Sharma ji that bharatiyas used to do "vanah puja" which was the science of preservation/making of forests. Beyond that, there is very little literature. Perhaps, Rajiv ji would have shared some solid information around it.

She works with a varied number of stakeholders and languages. Down-To-Earth has it's maximum readers and viewers in English. Whether we like it or not - English is here to stay and the maximum amount of information (unbiased from religious/political groups) is available in English. This is now being taken forward into regional language by many groups.
