You have mentioned many times in multiple videos that the FMCSA/DOT will continue to test for marijuana even if it is rescheduled to 3. Aren't these federal agencies mandated to comply with the HHS guidelines for drug testing in federal agencies? The current HHS guidelines for federal workplace drug testing only include schedule 1 and schedule 2 drugs. Do you believe that the HHS will revise their guidelines and include a single schedule 3 drug (marijuana) to be tested for?

This is off subject, but I see no other place where discussions like this are happening. Does anyone know how this might affect firearms purchases? Ironically, (since it's mostly republicans who are against cannabis legalization), it's mainly republicans who are the reason I currently cannot purchase a firearm in Florida, (where I have a medical cannabis card.) I'm also nervous about carrying even though we now no longer need a permit to carry concealed. Or a more general question, would the effect of this rescheduling be that if you are using cannabis as a prescribed medicine, at the federal level you would not be doing anything illegal? If that's the case then I would think that this would affect gun purchases also. Anyway I submitted my public comment in support of rescheduling. I hear nearly 70% of public comments were favorable for rescheduling or "de-scheduling" altogether. I'm actually kind of disappointed there are still enough "Reefer Madness" fools out there to comprise 30% of the comments. Sometimes, at some point, people just aren't entitled to have certain opinions respected.

The big thing is that the Controlled Substances Act says the following about Schedule I drugs, (under which "marijuana" is currently classified): (A)The drug or other substance has a high potential for abuse. (B)The drug or other substance has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States. (C)There is a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision. Whereas the Controlled Substances Act says this about Schedule III drugs: (A)The drug or other substance has a potential for abuse less than the drugs or other substances in schedules I and II. (B)The drug or other substance has a currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States. (C)Abuse of the drug or other substance may lead to moderate or low physical dependence or high psychological dependence. Just to make one point, that issue with accepted medical use can be huge for a lot of people for a lot of reasons. Currently, even though you have a prescription that is legal in your state, the federal government doesn't recognize that legality. Apparently that has a lot of consequences for businesses, even to the point where the money from a dispensary has at least at some point been considered illegally obtained under federal banking regulations. For individuals, it can have consequences when you deal with, for example, federal licensing. I currently cannot purchase a firearm in Florida, where my medical cannabis is legal. The reason is there is a federal application that must be completed for every gun purchase, and according to that application the answer to whether I use illegal narcotics would have to be "Yes". I'm not even sure exactly how this affects truck drivers, but I believe there are similar issues where there is this clash between cannabis being legal at the state level and cannabis being illegal at the federal level. Also, the Schedule I classification has limited our ability to study cannabis. So in effect they've prevented people from overturning their corrupt stance because they can't submit data to show why it's corrupt. With Schedule III, the door is opened a lot more to medical studies. So yes, this can mean a lot for a lot of people.

If I’m home for two weeks living in a state with a medical or legal cannabis law then guess what? I’m going to smoke. If I can drink 8 hours before I drive then why not smoke??
