I can see something like this happening between Sonic and Amy. It’s realistic as Sonic is shown that not only has Amy grown up and matured but he has to as well. In the Japanese games characters do say Sonikku but it is not supposed to be spelled that way. People say it like Sonic-kun with the male ending but over time the fandom changed it to Sonikku instead of Sonic-kun
