In which I discuss how to handle light stones in the opening, and more importantly how to think about group importance in a fight.

Really good video Brady. Very clear. Now I need to stop watching and actually start playing...

Concise, eight minute videos are better.

Thanks, Larry, I appreciate your opinion on this. Short videos will continue to be my thing. I just hope you and others don't mind the occasional outlier too much!

It was great to see this much depth in a single game and I am really glad you made this video (and the follow-up I'm looking forward to watching)! In the past you have looked at one game through multiple videos and maybe this could have been a time to do that? I think this would have been great in two videos (the first about the opening, and the second about five groups) probably 10 and 25 minutes long if I timed it right. That said, I hope you never feel discouraged from tackling difficult subjects to explain in sound bites. Fighting is hard to do and harder to explain, so it stands to reason that videos about it will tend to run long.

I don't agree. Maybe you're much stronger than me, so longer, reading orientated videos don't interest you as much, and instead you're watching for the humorous side of this series. And I enjoy the shorter videos too! But I'm exactly the kind of player he described at the start. So reading and thinking things through along with Brady, it's really where I can get the most value and progress. (Porgress, huh. Probably another word he can't say properly :P)

At 8:34 you imply that B12 connects your groups, but it's not accurate since D13 is sente for white. By the way, I like videos with complicated fighting. Cheers

You are correct. But I'd sure hate to be white after white D13, D14, B13, C12, C13, G11! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Is black 4 really a strict tenuki when there's a general fuseki between the top and bottom that can set up a global strategy?
@BradyDaniels18 жыл бұрын
It's definitely a tenuki. I wouldn't say it's necessarily bad. As you imply, tenuki is often part of an opening strategy.

yo is that lemonade?
@BradyDaniels18 жыл бұрын
Ah, you ask the hard questions! I think it was orange-pineapple squash, though it might have been orange-mango. For those who don't know, squash is a concentrated fruit juice that you add to a glass of water to make a tasty and affordable beverage.

Can black play c13 instead of c14?
@BradyDaniels18 жыл бұрын
Yes, but it will give white forcing moves at D13 and C12, should white play a continuation in which he doesn't sacrifice his stones. Thank you for your contribution!
