I'm a Runescape veteran since 2005 so I may be biased, but I have some issues with your ranking 1. You talked down on defence but funnily I don't think you were harsh enough. Defence is almost useless in any high level fight because the monsters are so accurate that the damage is unsustainable even with high defence, your main defence is protection prayers. The main purpose of the defence skill is the offensive stats of the armor. 2. I wouldn't rank strength with magic and prayer. Melee is the inferior combat style to ranged and magic has unrivaled utility. Strength belongs with attack 3. You were unfair with Construction. It is not nearly that bad to train; building stuff at your house is intensive but extremely quick (and way better now that you can use number keys to select the item to build), and mahogany homes are more relaxed but slower (but still way faster than many skills). You can't really criticise a skill for being repetitive ("fetch quests for weeks") when every skill is very repetitive 4. Why is Herblore A and Cooking B when rest of the artisan skills are lower? You don't get any benefit from brewing your own potions or cooking your food, just buy them. Someone had to level those skills but ut doesn't need to be you if you aren't ironman. For ironman I would agree but for mains they are as useful as Fletching and Crafting. Speaking of Crafting: dart tips are made by smithing, not Crafting. Also Smithing is not any worse than the rest and has training methods that make decent money, just bunch all the pointless artisan skills together 5. You said Fishing is one of the most hated skills; I don't think I've ever heard anyone say they hate fishing, mainly because it's low effort. Mining is hated, probably because the low effort methods are relatively new and people haven't realised it's not that bad anymore. Stars are literally AFK in my opinion, they're like 7 minutes between clicks 6. Bonds... Personally I don't have an issue with them. For a veteran player money isn't an issue, you can obtain hundreds of millions in your first few months on a fresh account and train with any method you like, and even if you buy the materials you still have to put the hours to actuakly train. People will RWT anyways (you say Jagex doesn't care about bots; name one online game that has eradicated its cheating problems), IMO it's better if they do it via bonds so that poor people and 3rd world players can get membership. I get it that some people are purists when it comes to MTX so they won't tolerate bonds, but I don't care personally

I have positive memories of agility, but that's only becaus of the gratification of finally crawling out of the confines of free to play and playing the members skills for the first time. On another note, I don't know how I was in severe denial about the viability of certain pokemon, but I knew pretty much which skills were crap, even at the time.

Really enjoyed the video. I'm not exactly the world's biggest Pokémon or Fire Emblem fan, but I do watch most of your videos because I think your humor is top notch. I am however, one of the world's biggest Runescape fans. So RUNESCAPE NERD'S POINTS OF CONTENTION INCOMING: I do of course understand your issue with bonds in theory, however I think you're highly overstating the actual prevalence of the pay to win aspect. While of course there are people who are shelling out hundreds or even thousands of dollars on gold through them, I just think so few people are doing that it really doesn't effect your gameplay experience, and I think it allowing people membership without having to pay real life money as well as the money people DO spend to go to Jagex instead of bot farmers is a net positive. I could go in depth on why I think that, but I don't think anyone is particularly interested in reading a dissertation, so I'll move on. I'm also baffled as to why Faming is A tier but Hunter is Gilenor's Finest. Both are mostly useless, but each of their arguably most prevalent features, herb farming and birdhouse runs, are almost completely identical both mechanically and in terms of reward. Both have you roughly once an hour or two, teleport somewhere, make a short run, collect your resources, expend some resources, then go back to what you are doing. Both are highly rewarding for the minimal time investment, but I would argue birdhouses are even more so than herb farming. The foot pedal tirade was probably the funniest thing I've heard all week. Sad to hear you say we shouldn't expect more Runey content.

That gold buying bit just reminded me how bad it eventually got in WoW. Especially in Classic, where gold buying became a meta for GDKP raids and people throwing around more gold than any Vanilla player wouldve realistically seen, and bots were so rampant with Blizzard completely ignoring them. Then them eventually adding in tokens in Wrath Classic. It's really sad that private servers feel like the more authentic WoW experience nowadays.

I played back in the early days of runescape 2, was pretty much checked out by the time grand exchange happened, both a combination of burnout with runescape and the fact I had limited computer time that I enjoyed spending in other ways. Never had any crazy feats on my account or anything due to how little computer access I was given, but my one big claim to fame is that I operated a cafepress shop as a kid where I put out runescape inspired t shirt designs and made enough money off that to buy myself a nintendo ds, at least until my bio mom straight up stole the cafepress shop from me.

I remember playing Runescape back in the mid-00s and it being MUCH WORSE! I remember when the Abyss was introduced as it was the best way to level Runecrafting. What's the Abyss? It's a location you can only go to when you have high enough Runecrafting. When you enter it, you get flagged for pvp, even though it wasn't considered a pvp zone, meaning you drop everything on you if you die. The Abyss has a portal to every rune alter. But there are also high level mobs that drop lots of runes and noted essences. Another annoyance with the Abyss was you needed 30 in another skill just to get to the warp points. There were no other ways out. The best mining spot was the coal trucks. There was a spot where after you completed a quest, you could use the mine carts at a coal mine to store a certain amount of coal and the other end is next to a bank. And since all normal bars above iron (except gold) require a lot of coal, it was the best method to get a lot of it. The only problem was that you needed a certain amount of agility to use the shortcut between the mining points and the bank. There were many other tedious grinds.

While rune armor is the best f2p armor, if I'm remembering that right, you can just buy rune armor from the Champion's Guild and another npc in Edgeville that sells the higher end f2p armor! Which you get access to from a fairly low level quest. Dragon Slayer isn't a particularly hard quest, you just need okay equipment and the shield the quest gives you. But it just shows how useless Smithing is if you can just buy from an npc what the game considered the ultimate reward for maxing the skill out.

Cheese you play Runescape!! You're giving a hour long! Runescape video. Awesome! My fav RS skills RS Classic is Prayer. RS2 is Dungeoneering it has such great rewards. I remember it was fun. RS3 it's Dungeoneering, super fast to train. Very active way to train. Go Fast! In OSRS it's Magic, both for combat and non combat (Why isn't Dungeoneering in OSRS) My least Fav skills RS Classic is Mining RS2 is Hunter (Summoning didn't help it much) RS3 is Divination OSRS is Hunter (This is latest skill, by the way.)

Let me emphasize just how skewed the 99 Smithing rewards are between OSRS & RS3. OSRS: An F2P plate armor someone else will just loot from a boss. Who knows how many of those I've looted while repeatedly grinding F2P bosses for the Bryo Staff & Hill Giant Club. RS3: T90 Melee Power Armor that can be upgraded to T92. Also, the T90 can be repaired using said skill for dirt cheap whenever needed as long as you have unlocked & built an Armor Stand. How in the name of Zaros did they think keeping the progression from Classic was a good idea? Oh wait, this is the same studio that thought giving Necromancy 20 more level up bonuses all the way to 120 compared to the other combat skills in RS3 was a good idea.

Man, constantly returning to old franchises and games that you actively hate because of corporate greed’s influence on them is very millennialcore. Personally I also started to resent the OSRS community as well because of how Jagex enabled their irrational nostalgia to make it so that it was borderline impossible to get any substantive, fun, and subversive updates to the game. Everything got watered down, and no update would change the trajectory of the game after that. I didn’t like how RS2 was essentially replaced by a completely different game that didn’t appeal to me at all, but that’s not synonymous with being fundamentally opposed to a game receiving substantive updates and changes. The people who voted were very easy to manipulate as well because they didn’t really think about what they were voting for-case in point, as you said they were essentially tricked by Jagex into voting for the game to be pay to win. «Yay, free to play, just like back in the old days! I’m sure it’ll be exactly like when I was a kid now that the median age of players is like above 25!» Lol ._. Looks like my account Zalcz hasn’t been hacked by botfarms yet though, at least according to hiscores anyway :,)

I mean Runescape looks interesting... unlike the abomination that is called Digimon Masters Online and it's the worse piece of crap that has ever existed. It has no adventure, no joy, laptop crashes and PAY-TO-WIN for the damn casuals... Don't play it unless you want to know what true despair is.
