- The CLICK Ethernet PLC models now support the EtherNet/IP as an (EtherNet/IP Adapter) device. This allows the CLICK PLC and its I/O to be controlled by an EtherNet/IP Scanner (Client).
With this low-cost PLC now having the ability to be an EtherNet IP PLC Slave-I/O, it is the perfect solution for budget-saving Field I/O.
In this video, it shows how to Import the CLICK PLC to a studio5000 Controller using EDS file for Ethernet/IP configuration. It walks you through the I/O configuration on the CLICK, setting up the EtherNet/IP configuration, creating the EDS file, and then importing that EDS file into your Studio 5000 project.
This video works for both the ControlLogix and Compactlogix controllers.

This is great. But the problem then lies when you want to use 2 or more Clicks in the same RSLogix program. If you create an EDS file for each Click, they will overwrite each other when you import them into Logix. You need to be able to create different EDS files that don't get overwritten for each different Click you are using....

It basically boils down to this… The Rockwell software defines a device by the four following items: • Vendor ID • Device Type • Product Code • Major Revision Three different C0-12DD2E-2-D CLICK CPUs with three different programs loaded still do not look unique to the Rockwell software. The Rockwell software sees the same information in all three devices: • Vendor ID: 482 (Koyo) • Device Type: 43 (Generic Device - Keyable) • Product Code: 618 • Major Revision: 1 These four items are the first four attributes of the Identity Object within the device. It is important to understand that these values reside WITHIN the device. An EDS file specifies these same attributes in the [Device] section under the following keywords: • VendCode = • ProdType = • ProdCode = • MajRev = The Rockwell software uses these values from the [Device] section to match the EDS file to the actual device. Changing any of this information in the file would result in a mismatch of the file and device. Realize that devices like motor starters, drives, sensors, and other EtherNet/IP Adapters that have static I/O Assemblies have a single EDS file that can represent multiple devices on the network because they are all the same. However, devices like PLC’s are dynamic in their configuration and may all be all have the same device attributes with very different I/O Assemblies. So, your understanding is accurate, but not a limitation of the CLICK itself. This is how the Rockwell software handles their EDS files and device definitions. My suggestion: If ALL Click PLCs have the same I/O Assembly definition, then feel free to use the EDS file. If not, then understand that the EDS file does NOT have to be used to configure these devices. Using the ‘Generic Ethernet Module’ option in the Rockwell software will still allow the user to add all three devices… manually.

Can I use click plc with the Fanuc robot communication Ethernet?

I can only get it to sort of work. RSLogix5000 keeps treating the data type as 8-bit signed integers. So I end up with an array of 52 tags instead of 13. Like in the video, I am using XD1-XD9 plus DF1-DF4 as inputs, and YD1-YD9 plus DF5-DF8 as outputs. For discrete IO, I can live with each 32-bit XD and/or YD register parsed as 4 8-bit registers. But for analog?? I am going to have to splice the bits together to reconstruct a 32-bit float. I don't want to do that. Help!

Thanks for watching our videos and thanks for the question. Sorry to hear that there may have been some misunderstanding somewhere along the line when you contacted tech support. The Click most certainly is compatible with Logix / Studio 5000 as far as Ethernet IP communications. Please contact our tech support again to resolve your communication issue, but keep in mind these issues are quite often on the AB setup side. We do not necessarily have expertise in that area, but we will provide all the assistance we can.

Can any other software use except Studio 5000 and inform is there anyway to import and other Controller Eds file in click PLC
@automationdirect
@automationdirect 2 жыл бұрын
Any EtherNet controller that will accept EDS files should be able to import a CLICK EDS. CLICK Only works as an adapter(Remote Slave), and will not work as a Scanner (Remote master), so it can not import other controllers EDS files.

Excellent video, exactly like what I'm looking for. Could the RS-232 port be used to read I / O data from a MICROLOGIX 1200 to the PLC CLICK and this to the COMPACTLOGIX? I mean using the PLC CLICK as a bridge similar to the 1761-NET-ENI(DF1 to Ethernet/IP). This would be a super efficient low cost solution for data migration to IOT. If you have a project like that, you can share it with me. Thank you very much. Regards.

Mario, Thanks for the comment. This is possible but there are caveats. The Micrologix 1200 Series C Channel 0 does support Modbus. (Please see this page for reference theautomationblog.com/which-allen-bradley-micrologix-plc-models-support-modbus/). If you have a Micrologix that does support Modbus on the serial connection then, Yes, you could use the CLICK as replacement option for the 1761-NET-ENI. You would need to "read in" the registers needed over Modbus, then apply them to the EtherNet/IP addressing in the CLICK. We do not have an example of this project.

is it possible to interface the p2-rs with studio 5000?
@automationdirect
@automationdirect 2 жыл бұрын
The P2-RS works directly with a Productivity PLC. You, can have the P2-RS be controlled by a P2-550, then have the P2-550 and the studio 5000 PLC share data across EtherNet/IP.

What is the ballpark price for the controllers ?
@automationdirect
@automationdirect 4 жыл бұрын
You can find all pricing information at www.automationdirect.com/click-plc. Bottom line: They start at $69. Only the Ethernet models have EtherNet/IP option, those start at $135. Perfect price to use as Field I/O or augmenting your controls.
