Keepers never get the credit they deserve, the amount of training that goes into these players is amazing and the amount of skill, reactions and positioning it requires on top of how painful it must be having grown men kicking footballs at you, in my opinion, makes them the most skilled and respectable players on any pitch by far.

The role of a goalkeeper is something special. I mean think about. It is the guy you call when everything went wrong. Everything that matters in this moment is saved or gone by decisions you have to make within fractions of a second. No tactics, no playing around, just responsibilty, raw instinct and capabilities. It is the hero role in football.

I'm a keeper for like 5 years now and I receive hate and rude comments. For any young or old goalkeeps I just want to say: Honestly, don't give a shit about what they say. I got called butter fingers due to the ball slipping. I didn't have gloves at that time and my hands were dirty. Ignore them, please. Just keep on, on doing an excelent job at the three poles. It's your job to critize yourself. Not your comrades in game. Believe in yourself, please. You won't regret it when you're playing with the state team.

I wish that the people i know and that play would realize how essential and how skilled you have to be to be goalkeeper. Not everyone can make amazing plays like this. Especially for teams that I've played for, old teammates would tell me that each time I slipped up it was my fault, but then don't credit it me when I do make intense saves. They forget that it is a team effort, and not about how hard or far you can kick but the communication and teamwork that you need to be a successful team.

You will receive goals in games more often than not, it's not your fault. You will get footballs in the face, and in the groin. You will crack your teeth, break your fingers and toes. You will be bruised and bleeding, and you will cry. But it's all worth it, when you save your team's victory with one good action. Me being at 42 and probably in my last active season, a goalkeeper since I was 6, I'll do it all over again! Good luck!
