Interesting picks. A Snyder horror comic I really enjoy is Severed. Good companion piece to Wytches imo. It's a period piece set in 1912 with beautiful painted art. The villain, The Salesman, has a penchant for eating little kids haha. My favorite horror comic is Rachel Rising by the great Terry Moore. Lush black and white artwork. A woman wakes up from the dead and the mystery ensues about how exactly she died. A good witch story as well. Happy reading!

Yea so, I've read all these and you're analysis of all of them is spot on. I love all these series and honestly, I have a hard to finding series that are similar. Which is weird, because comic book readers love the horror genre, but it's so difficult to get right. One that I need to get my hands on is 30 Days of Night, which has the same artist as Ten Grand (one of my absolute favorite comic series, which you ALSO need to read). It's supposed to be super creepy and the obviously the art is going to be amazing. I already told you this, but you should check out Swamp Thing and Severed (both written by Scott Snyder).
@ImpressionBlend9 жыл бұрын
+Lindsay Weimer It's so strange that good horror comics are hard to find! You would think this would be a popular thing, and there would be a lot to pick from, but apparently not. I need 30 Days of Night as well - I've heard a lot of good things. And ALL the things by Scott Snyder, of course :)

I'd like to try all of these out since you made them sound so appealing, but I'm partly afraid that I'm too easily creeped out for some of them!
@ImpressionBlend9 жыл бұрын
+Between Chapters They're definitely all within the horror genre, so the creep factor is real. The difficult thing about horror is that we all get creeped out by different things, so it's kind of hard to predict what's going to have the biggest effect. What are things that you're totally NOT ok with? Or can deal with?

No, I've not read any of those comics, but some sound pretty good and sound like they might make an interesting TV series or limited series, if they'd capture them right. I'm sort of tired of super hero comics, and the TV series just doesn't cut the mustard for me either (Green Arrow, The Flash, etc.). Since I don't read many comics these days, I can't recommend much there, but I am reading a novel, Swan Song, which is a post apocalypse type novel with so far, not too many characters, but has been a great read. The author, McCammon, has a pretty easy to read style.

I saw the first 3 episodes of "Scream Queens" and I was not scared once. Either I'm the man without fear or they forgot the horror in horror comedy. Emma Roberts was great though. As a Neil Gaiman fan, I suggest you read "Sandman vol 2: The Doll's House", about a convention for serial killers. In comics, Gaiman is famous for "Sandman", and this story is his breakout hit.

I have been catching up on The Goon by Eric Powell, since Dark Horse started releasing the oversized Library Editions. It can only be described as a grab bag of horror/supernatural elements with a tongue in cheek/knife in the eye brand of humor and violence throughout. Definitely, Mature Readers only.

Wytches was an amazing suggestion, and now Plan B is making it into a movie! Super excited about that. Also if you guys are wondering what Plan B is, its Brad Pitts production company
