It has more fictional buttons and a dial on the face, a stop rubber below the brake pedal, to name a few of the improvements. I'm happy with it, so it is not a waste of money.

I was having an issue where my shifter was limited to 3rd and 4th gears, without access to the remaining. It was as if something was blocking it physically. It turns out it was a small plastic black ring which broke and fell under the stick. Thanks for the tutorial, now I can finally driver manual cars again... after I fix my gas pedal oscillating while I'm not pressing it... Thanks, champs!

Such a great proper improvement mod and fix! The leather part of my shifter under my knob has been ripped open in both top and bottom side. The ring will definitely help keep down the leather from tugging and tearing even more while I shift cautiously! And black tape will do to seal back up the teared holes! Thanks!
@danm894811 жыл бұрын
Nice ideas. I bought a longer screw at the hardware store and put a plastic spacer inside the knob to make the shaft slightly longer. Personal preference, but I have larger hands and liked the feel of the longer shaft.
@wigwack129 жыл бұрын
Instead of using velcro, I used a small strip of double sided tape and wraped it around the shaft rather then the plastic exterior. I then took a piece of electrical tape around the exposed side of the double sided tape. It works extremely well as an alternative.

Bought my G27 10 years ago, it still mostly works. The only thing not working are the buttons on the wheel itself (and paddle shifters), otherwise it's good. I've not been an avid racer so no constant heavy use of it. Still pretty good quality wheel if you ask me, lasting this long. As I drive stick irl, this is what I like for games as well. True the shifter always felt a bit cheap. Never modded it before, but I'm about to now though. Thanks for these videos!

@RICMOTECH Hey, I like the video but I do have one question. Will using the loop side of Velcro cause issues with the performance of the electronics? I have not disassembled this exact shifter myself so I'm not sure what style switches are used to indicate gear to the game. My thought was that the rod rubbing against the Velcro would cause the little fuzzy hairs to rub off inside the shifter assembly. Will these little hairs cause issues with anything inside the shifter housing or are the switches pretty well protected from contamination. I will have one of these shifters in a couple days as I have just ordered a g27, I plan on doing this mod or a similar one using something other than Velcro. Another comment suggests draft striping but I think that will cause much difficulty shifting into 1,2,5,6,R as it will prevent the shifter from being able to go far enough to left or right for the pins on the side of the shifter mechanism to reach the opening in the side gates this shifter uses. Your opinion would be appreciated as I will use the Velcro if you haven't experienced issues. Thank you.
@sethcormier776810 жыл бұрын
cool thank you, I have some white Velcro brand lying around and if you rub the fuzzy side some of the white fibers come off each time (not alot but if you do it over a black surface it builds up quick.) I am going to pick up some 3m brand and see how that works. I'm surprised because the Velcro brand is extremely strong, I use it to hold the twin lipos in my rc race boat and it takes alot of force to pull the batteries out. I've used off brands that dont cut the mustard, however I have never used 3m so I will for sure use that when my g27 arrives. Thanks for the help.

this mod i did 3 years ago without seeing this or any other video. very thin rubber on all sides. result = gears jump out or they will not get in. the margin of space is very, very small. today my "gearbox" is in "1000" pieces on my table. the 3 springs will be impoved, the metall ball will press harder in the spaces made for it, the whole plastic housing will be "coated" with 3 mm thick insulating material for car audio-freaks (which comes in the car doors) and i still habe to think a way to minimize this cheap plastic clicking. but i will succed! my pedals are allready out of the original housing, mounted on a self constructed platform that can be ajusted in hight, tilt back and forth and the space between the pedals. the brake pedal working 3x harder then original for better brake-feeling. next problem, the ratteling of the wheel on high speed on straits. too much to write ... but this mode is in my oppinion not enough and it could make the whole thing worse. COULD, did it on my gear-box.
@RWHobbies8 жыл бұрын
Nice mod, but there is an error in the video. For a G27 you need a 3/8" grommet not a 1/2". The 1/2" is way to big and slides down the shaft. The 3/8" fits perfectly.
