Tom Smith was a good young man. He really wanted a job, but he couldn't find one. There were lots of people who wanted to work, but there weren't many jobs available.
This made Tom feel sad because he never had enough money for clothes or to go to the movies. When he was a kid, he dreamed of becoming a football player.

Hello, I am teaching English as a foreign language to students in Hungary. Thank you for posting this story. The narrator speaks clearly and has a pleasant voice. The pace is slow enough for non-native speakers to follow easily. I appreciated the ending of the story as I was a bit apprehensive that it would be unpleasant. Students need to be encouraged to make rational decisions, show kindness to strangers, and not live confined by fear and superstition. Keep up the good work.

And this is in pertinance to me also as I was on a train kind of recent and I was rather intoxicated (drunky). And the train stopped at a station over in the next town. There I had to go from one car to another, having a hedonistic young time. Finally I reached my destination all well and sound. My family were happy to greet me. So the more you know, pay attention to the announcer on the vehicle in order to arrive safely at your spot. Make sure to pick up your baggage also so everything is tip top. 🙂😇
