Ohhhh yes!! This is another great example, thank you for sharing! 'Relax your fingers" is another one that is full of good intentions, but can often cause us to slip the reins.

Hi @arcaciawegleitner4082 It depends which aspect of the split rein you're referring to? If your reins are new, they may be stiff and not offer the nicest feel. I would soak them, work them, and then oil them if that's the case. If your goal is to ride one handed, that's a developmental progression. Starting in a snaffle with direct, single rein contact is still part of their education. As the horse get stronger and more educated about the outside rein you can move to riding with one hand. This takes time and consistency
