Hi Rob. Richard L (Retired WED) here from Manitoba. You did a great job on the video and I'm always looking for tips on moose hunting. We head out next week for our annual moose hunt so hopefully the bulls will be all fired up !! Take Care my friend.

I'm also from Manitoba going for moose lately. I'm curious on moose reaction to your calls. I had a bull responding to my cow/bull calls but just wouldn't come into my location.. possibly with a cow? How could you pull a bull away from the cow

@sageseymour3462 , that can be tough. When you have nothing to lose, you can try challenging the bull by making more bull grunts and raking the bushes or you can also go to them if they're hung up. Like I say, if nothing to lose, may as well mix it up! Good luck!

Question. I never hunted early in rut, or pre rut, which was 15th Sept. had a bull skirt me, it hung up in the bush behind me. I was calling from edge of a nice swamp. I heard him 45 minutes before I heard him rake his antlers. I tried some soft cow calls, even couple bull grunts. I waited for 45 minutes more, I doubt if he winded me, it was still as it could be. Ideas, I didn’t rake back,in hind sight should have I guess.

Rake, challenge or move in towards him....when nothing to lose, may as well mix it up!

How often should you call

@stephenwilliams9077 really depends on weather conditions, phase of the rut etc but I find every 30 minutes (give or take) is a good start. Of course there are always exceptions! Good luck!

ACTUALLY the un-receptive cow call is much different....with ALMOST 50 EXPERIENCE IN HUNTING AND WATCHING MOOSE ACTUALLY COMMUNICATING....YOU'LL KNOW WHAT IM SAYING
