@AndrewWaltonPhotography

Thanks for watching Dennis and the feedback. I left camera bags out of the video as it is very much personal preference as some people prefer to carry other gear as well or clothing with them in a rucksack style bag, others prefer a messenger style bag. If you really want compact then something like the Lowepro Adventura SH100 LL should do the job but there isn't much space in it other than the camera itself. They do offer a range in the Adventura series so one of the slightly larger bags might give you more options.

@AndrewWaltonPhotography 3 жыл бұрын
Hi John, at the time I think I was using an Amazon basics CPL but I found a few flaws with it. I've since bought a Hoya CPL (off Amazon) which is much better and still reasonably priced. The ND filter is a cheap variable one off eBay. It's ideal for video but for long exposure photography I think I'm going to look at buying a 10 stop ND. I've just bought a 'pig iron' branded 10 stop for my Nikon DSLR, if that works ok then I'll invest in one for the fz82. That was bought for £10.99 on eBay from a UK camera shop. I hope this helps.

Andrew, What a wealth of information and tips. I was investigating this camera as a replacement for my Fujifilm Finepix HS50EXR which sadly now has some issues. You have persuaded me to buy it now, along with a £35 reduction on Amazon. Now £285! I was wondering about your views on the use of a step up ring (55-58) so I can use accessories from my fuji. I have various filters and also a Raynox high definition telephoto conversion lens 2.2X which would give me a whopping 132X optical zoom. Not for the hand shakers!
@AndrewWaltonPhotography
@AndrewWaltonPhotography Жыл бұрын
The step up rings should work, the only issue I can foresee is there may be an issue with the edges of the filter encroaching into the corners at 20mm (widest angle) - I have noticed this when using a filter and a lens hood at the same time. I usually zoom to 22mm and the issue is solved.

Thank you for watching Gabriel. The filter size you need for the fz82 (fz80) is 55mm. You can use a filter and a lens hood at the same time but depending on the brand of filter (and the thickness of it) sometimes you can see the edges of the lens hood when the camera is set to it's widest point (20mm). I have found this has been the case when I moved from an Amazon CPL filter to a Hoya CPL. I hope this helps.

Thanks Andy, one thing I hate about this camera is taking portrait photos, It really came to be bad photos if taking just in normal light. it needs to have extra light on the face to achieve acceptable shoots, can you help with the sitting to improve portrait shoots?
@AndrewWaltonPhotography
@AndrewWaltonPhotography 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sam, what mode are you using the fz82 in when shooting portraits? I would suggest trying the camera in aperture priority. Sadly the FZ82 doesn't have a really wide aperture so it may be more tricky to separate your subject from the background and have that nice bokeh effect behind. If you are shooting a man's portrait harsher lighting will be preferable, that would give more chiseled features. With women and children then you might want to look at some additional LED panels where you can dim the brightness or failing that soft boxes, reflectors or even large sheets of white card can be used to bounce the light back towards your subject to eliminate harsh shadows. If you are shooting outdoors try early morning and later in the afternoon when the sun is less severe and lower in the sky. I hope this helps.

Hi, Andrew. Thanks for your reviews, they are really helpful. I'm trying to make a decision between this camera and the Canon SX70 HS. Can you give me your point of view in order to decide? It'll be for vacation, fishing trips, outdoor... Thanks!
@AndrewWaltonPhotography

The Canon is a good camera according to those who use it but it is almost twice the price of the FZ80/82 here in the UK. I haven't had much experience of it myself. If you aren't planning to photograph distant subjects (and don't need a huge zoom lens) then also look at the Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 which has the 1 inch sensor in it which gives much better low light performance. Check out my FZ1000 videos - currently the Mk1 is available here for £550 and the improved MK2 for around £750. I'm not sure how those prices compare where you are?

It depends on your budget to be honest. It's not quite as sharp as a DSLR or Mirrorless camera but much cheaper. I chose the FZ82 because of it's 4k video abilities. No other bridge camera seemed to have this coupled to a large lens (1200mm equivalent.) Is you don't need such a good zoom range then the FZ330 is also worth a look. That is weather sealed and has an articulated screen.

Does the fz330 have an issue with the control button for the zoom, I believe that it eventually wears out quite quickly and to replace the button the top section of the camera requires to be replaced which is supposed to be expensive.

Hi, I'm back with a question. Is the battery and aftermarket charger (namely, DSTE DMW-BMB9 charger and DSTE DMW-BMB9 1500mAh battery) worth the money? How long does this battery last? Thanks. ..., but this device..AC USB adapter DMW-AC8 coupler DMW-DCC6 DMW-BMB9 replace Panasonic, is it good? Is it worth buying? Thanks.
@AndrewWaltonPhotography
@AndrewWaltonPhotography 2 жыл бұрын
I have those DSTE batteries and have been using them along with the OE Lumix battery. I would say that they last almost as long as the lumix battery in the camera (for still images mainly). I have noticed a marginal drop in performance after a solid two years of use. They are still entirely functionable and considering the price difference compared to the cost of an additional lumix battery I still think they are worth buying. I've not had any experience with the AC USB adapter DMW-AC8 coupler DMW-DCC6 DMW-BMB9 so I can't really make a judgement on that device.

I have a couple of questions for a beginner. I hope you don't mind What setting do you recommend I use on a safari we will be going out early morning and evening trying to photo the animals if possible could I just leave it on one setting for all Panasonic /FZ82 thank;s
@AndrewWaltonPhotography
@AndrewWaltonPhotography 11 ай бұрын
If the light is low the camera may find it hard going. Once the sun is up it won't be a problem. If you are shooting moving animals then you might want to look at the clear sports shot setting or the freeze animal motion setting in the scene mode (scn on the dial). The other option is to use the 4k photo mode - here the camera will take a video clip then afterwards you can select the still images you like from the clip - this is done in camera and the camera will save the image as a jpeg. If you watch this video from 9:13 onwards it explains how 4k photo works. At dusk or after dark you might want to try Handheld Night Shot (again in the scene menu) - the camera takes three to five images and blends them into one image for you to try and improve the image, a steady hand is needed though I hope this helps Alan and practice all you can before you go - it sounds like a trip of a lifetime.

@@rallyburnz2simracing416 I'd consider buying some extra batteries and a rain cover for the camera as it isn't weather sealer - it's sister camera the fz330 is weather resistant but doesn't have the zoom range of the fz82/fz83.

Thanks Andrew that was great. Just can't get on with ND filters for my film work - tried many over the years on the '82. Will be getting some sticky jammers though! Check out my channel - make british wildlife films for shows in the community and commissions for wildlife NGO's. Have the '82 as my go-to wildlife camera (no snobbery here) and use a GH5 for the b-roll. Sub'd! Si.

Thanks for watching Simon, for some reason the spam filter hid your comments and I've just found them now - if only it would work for the real spammers! I've watched some of your videos are they are great. In fact it was your one from Florida that made me buy the FZ82 20 months ago!
