Gabriel, you are magnificent, a modern day Da Vinci . I can't thank you enough for this amazing 4"Dubrovnik 1950 Olympiad set. The only one of its kind. This is the most accurate and exact replica of the Dubrovnik Olympiad set ever made .

I enjoyed watching this and your first video. I turned a couple of sets of two different styles and got an article published in the Feb 2020 issue of the American Woodturner on turning chess sets.

This is amazing work. Maybe next set you reproduce could be the 1851 Staunton set (with stamped kingside pieces)! Such a classic design

Dude, you've got some serious skills! At first I hated the Dubrovnik design, but I've grown to love it. I know the authentic Dubrovnik sets weren't weighted and didn't have felt on the bottom, and definitely prefer both weights and felt.

Mr. Coss, I know the question has already been asked and people have made requests, but should you decide to sell future sets (we are all hoping you do and envious of Mr. Ladzinski's commissioned set - it is a stunner!), please let me know how I can put my name on your list. Your craftsmanship is absolutely second to none. Keep up the fantastic work and Happy Holidays!

Great job, great detail. Mike L is a great guy :) I'd buy this set (at 3.75 though). Prefer the original knights, but that's just me.
@johnhendy1281
@johnhendy1281 3 жыл бұрын
Can you elaborate on the details you notice between the two? I have been studying the knights quite a bit and half the time see variations in what I think are original photos at Noj and BCE, as well as slight variations in Noj's own pictures. The clip at around 7:20 is helpful. Definition in cheek inset, mouth, and the eyes stand out to me. Anything else that catches your eye?

This is freaking awesome. I'd seen your set featured in a chess.com post, but didn't know there was an associated video of them! I just took an attempt at making these via CNC, using a knight model I found on GrabCad (with permission from the author) because even with pics as wonderful as those of your pieces, I completely struck out trying to make the knights in CAD. I had a hard enough time machining these... I can't fathom doing this by hand! - www.reddit.com/r/woodworking/comments/m4fwib/1950_dubrovnik_chess_pieces_and_board/

Incredible work! I just saw the pics on reddit. Nice to meet someone else who is as obsessed with an accurate reproduction as me. I just completed my first "Fischer" Dubrovnik set on my cnc lathe kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3SxZqOAf6aofM0 and aspire to cnc the knights someday as well. I would be happy to get them as good as yours using cnc.

Well I guess you're aren't interested in making any more of these sets besides me being on your "wait list" and sending you numerous emails about the making of said set, Gabriel. That's quite oK. I still admire your work but your responses to any inquiries regarding a sale coming from me seem to fall on "deaf ears". That's a shame...live and learn I always say...I remain...an ex potential customer from NYC.
