this video was a year ago but i have a question: Why do you make a new object with a different colour to switch colours? why can't you just keyframe a fill effect to change colour? or, since this video is old, is that something that was added recently

At the time of recording, 'keyframing colour' wasn't something natural to me. It was a feature, just not something I'd do at the time. If I were to re-record this, I'd defo change that!

this tutorial is dope but i still dont understand why you used a fill for the white bg instead of just changing the solid's color

basically its for speed - let's say i want to change the colour of that solid, if you've done it with a fill, it's a click away (through the fill effect) whereas when you change the colour of the solid itself you'll have to press Ctrl+Shift+Y then change the colour. TLDR, it saves time.

alt f4 makes it auto save every 30 seconds. you only need to do it once and the first time you do it it will close after effects, then when you reopen it will always auto save
