Today we improve the 2018 Roller Coaster and the new Loop Coaster by converting them to MILS plates! This increased their stability immensely! Now we can move them around so easily and they are going to lock into place within the new layout beautifully. Today I walk you through the process of MILS plating these two massive sets.

for my lego loop coaster I had the same problem. All I had to do was take off a few chain links until it was tighter and rode the gear easier.

When building these size mils plates you may want to use 2x4 bricks on the seam of the baseplates as it will give that area a lot more strength

I have a large moc that I recently have made a large 48×48 which has been set up very similar to your set up. It made the handling of it as a whole so much easier. Thanks for that informative video so long ago on Mils. It saved my moc and it looks great.

I did this for my loop coaster, except I built the MILS base before I even started the coaster and then built the coaster right onto the MILS plate. I used a bunch of cross-bracing between the 3 plates, so I get less than a 1/8" flex across the long axis. Works beautifully for support and moving the set around! When I did this, I ran into one issue and one huge benefit. Issue: you have to leave a small cut-out under the counterweight track. That system extends to the table in the original build, so has to extend into the MILS base two plates deep. Not a problem, but need to account for it. I built a mini-MOC of a little drainage ditch system around it to look more natural. Huge benefit: Since I was already building in a cut-out for the counterweight, I built in a 2nd cut-out beneath the lift carriage. When the carriage returns, it hits harder than I liked on that fall. So, I removed the plates directly below it, and built in a little MOC system of Lego tires. That way the carriage is landing on a bit more of a cushioned surface, and I was able to keep it in-system without modifying the out-of-box lift mechanism. Seems to work beautifully so far!

When you are doing that method, it is a good idea to use hobby c-clamps. This way, you can get the pressure that you need to get your pieces to become as 1. On the outside area, I would use technic brick, and 2 plates. This way you can connect them like a modular piece.
@TurtleBurger681

I hope you have a good way of integrating the grass from the coasters into the concrete looking plates you have for the amusement park. I'm guessing that's gonna be covered up with pathways and stuff, but at least around the second coaster with the curved plates you'll need some curved tiles or something to build a curb so the transition from grass to pathway isn't so abrupt. And based on how you build that coaster on the MILS plate, you'll have to build that curb one onto at least different plates (the coaster plate and the 2 adjacent plates to that corner). I'm assuming, once everything is MILS plated and in its "permanent" spot, that you will be building over multiple plates and probably not keeping everything confined to single plates. However with the amusement park in particular you should be careful how much you connect together, as you will almost definitely change something around in the future and the more big thing you have connected, the more hassle you will have to go through trying not to break anything.

When I’m making MILS plates that span baseplates I always overlap the plate across the seams and usually use at least a couple of long bricks like 2x8 or some extra plate under there.

I feel like it would be better if you peeled off the original underlying grey plates on the Loop Coaster since the MILS plates are already providing all the structure they did plus more. A little disassembly and reassembly now will make it fit better in the long run.

You're going to need to figure out where you want to place them but only after you have all of it on mills plated makes it easier to move the rides around, you should look into how amusement park are layout to get some ideas so you know where to place rides and stuff. 😀

The functioning of these rides can be tricky! But for me, it's challenging in a good way. It's fun to fiddle around and very rewarding to get fixed up, but also very frustrating when you have done that for what seems like an eternity 😅

I don't think you should waste the jumper plates on the adjacent MILS plate, just use tiles so that you don't have such a large area all connected as one. I think moving such a large build, even know that it's a MILS plate, can't be easy so the less you have connected, the easy it'll be to move.

I’m glad I only payed $140 for the loop coaster because it’s just a really frustrating and annoying set. Great display piece but it’s not built well and my tower is 100% reliable but I don’t care to use it bc I’m tired of fixing it so I just put the carts on the top manually💀 Can’t believe this set is $400 so many better sets out there

I would like to ask you a favor. Would you be willing to part with one of these? It's going to a great cause. My wife teaches Special Education for k through 5 th grade, alot of her students love Legos. Over the past 4 years she has had alot of donations and money spent from her own pocket. However this is the thing that's been on her list for along time and Noone has been able to come up with $599 to $799 you find these . I can not afford it but I love to be able to surprise the students and herself for Xmas this year. I can go into more detail if you like how she started this.
