Improving Throughput and Productivity with a New Packing Line for Irish Dog Foods

Irish Dog Foods is a leading manufacturer of premium pet treat products, with a significant local market in addition to a large export customer base. At SF Engineering, we have a long-standing and highly valued relationship with Irish Dog Foods, so we were delighted to be selected as their partner to develop this new packing line.
Our latest video showcases the packing line in operation. The project involved integrating carefully specified equipment from our market partners, equipment already in the Irish Dog Foods facility, and SF Engineering-designed conveyors and platforms.

I watch videos like this, checking on available bag packing technologies, and I'm left with the impression that what I'm seeing is IMPOSSIBLY more complicated than necessary for the mission at hand. That insane "custom" vertical conveyor affiar? I'd have a simple 2HP screw drive in about an 8" diameter tube, etc. etc. JUST IMPOSSIBLY MORE COMPLICATED than it needs to be. There are at least a half dozen points in this video where I'd dump the overkill and achieve the same result. Sorry, but anyone seeing this needs to know that such an architecture is probably 5X the necessary cost to get the same result at the same throughput rate. Yes, I'm a registered PE.
